20Amram took Jochebed his father's sister [to be his] wife; and she bore him Aaron and Moses. The years of Amram's life were one hundred thirty-seven years. 21The sons of Izhar were Korah, and Nepheg, and Zichri. 22The sons of Uzziel were Mishael, Elzaphan, and Sithri. 23Aaron took Elisheba, the daughter of Amminadab, the sister of Nahshon, [to be his] wife; and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. 24The sons of Korah were Assir, Elkanah, and Abiasaph. These are the families of the Korahites. 25Eleazar Aaron's son took one of the daughters of Putiel as his wife; and she bore him Phinehas. These are the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites according to their families. 26These are that Aaron and Moses to whom Yahweh said, "Take the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies." 27These are those who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to take the children of Israel from Egypt. These are that Moses and Aaron. 28On the day when Yahweh spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt, 29Yahweh said to Moses, "I am Yahweh. Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I tell you."
30Moses said to Yahweh, "Look, I am of uncircumcised lips, so how will Pharaoh listen to me?"
1Yahweh said to Moses, "Look, I have made you as God to Pharaoh; and Aaron your brother will be your prophet. 2Say all that I command you; and Aaron your brother is to tell Pharaoh to let the children of Israel leave his land. 3I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. 4But Pharaoh will not listen to you, so I will lay my hand on Egypt, and take my armies, my people the children of Israel, away from the land of Egypt by great judgments. 5The Egyptians will know that I am Yahweh when I stretch out my hand on Egypt, and take the children of Israel out from among them."
6Moses and Aaron did so. As Yahweh commanded them, so they did. 7Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.

5When king David came to Bahurim, behold, a man of the family of the house of Saul came out, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera. He came out, and cursed still as he came. 6He threw stones at David, and at all the servants of king David, and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left. 7Shimei said when he cursed, "Be gone, be gone, you man of blood, and base fellow! 8Yahweh has returned on you all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose place you have reigned! Yahweh has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son! Behold, you are caught by your own mischief, because you are a man of blood!"
9Then Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, "Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Please let me go over and take off his head." 10The king said, "What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? Because he curses, and because Yahweh has said to him, 'Curse David;' who then shall say, 'Why have you done so?'"
11David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, "Behold, my son, who came out from my body, seeks my life. How much more this Benjamite, now? Leave him alone, and let him curse; for Yahweh has invited him. 12It may be that Yahweh will look on the wrong done to me, and that Yahweh will repay me good for the cursing of me today." 13So David and his men went along the road; and Shimei went along on the hillside opposite him, and cursed as he went, threw stones at him, and threw dust. 14The king, and all the people who were with him, came weary; and he refreshed himself there.
15Absalom, and all the people, the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him. 16When Hushai the Archite, David's friend, had come to Absalom, Hushai said to Absalom, "Long live the king! Long live the king!"
17Absalom said to Hushai, "Is this your kindness to your friend? Why didn't you go with your friend?"
18Hushai said to Absalom, "No; but whoever Yahweh, and this people, and all the men of Israel have chosen, his I will be, and with him I will stay. 19Again, whom should I serve? Shouldn't I serve in the presence of his son? As I have served in your father's presence, so I will be in your presence."
20Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, "Give your counsel what we shall do."
21Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Go in to your father's concubines, that he has left to keep the house. Then all Israel will hear that you are abhorred by your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong."
22So they spread Absalom a tent on the top of the house; and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.
23The counsel of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man inquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
1Moreover Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Let me now choose twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue David tonight. 2I will come on him while he is weary and exhausted, and will make him afraid. All the people who are with him shall flee. I will strike the king only; 3and I will bring back all the people to you. The man whom you seek is as if all returned. All the people shall be in peace."
4The saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel. 5Then Absalom said, "Now call Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear likewise what he says."
6When Hushai had come to Absalom, Absalom spoke to him, saying, "Ahithophel has spoken like this. Shall we do what he says? If not, speak up."
7Hushai said to Absalom, "The counsel that Ahithophel has given this time is not good."

26But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Yahweh, thus you shall tell him, 'Yahweh the God of Israel says, "As touching the words which you have heard, 27because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before God, when you heard his words against this place, and against its inhabitants, and have humbled yourself before me, and have torn your clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard you," says Yahweh. 28"Behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes won't see all the evil that I will bring on this place, and on its inhabitants."'" They brought back word to the king. 29Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. 30The king went up to the house of Yahweh, and all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, both great and small. He read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of Yahweh. 31The king stood in his place, and made a covenant before Yahweh, to walk after Yahweh, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book. 32He caused all who were found in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand [to it]. The inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers. 33Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that [belonged] to the children of Israel, and made all who were found in Israel to serve, even to serve Yahweh their God. All his days they didn't depart from following Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
1Josiah kept a Passover to Yahweh in Jerusalem: and they killed the Passover on the fourteenth [day] of the first month. 2He set the priests in their offices, and encouraged them to the service of the house of Yahweh. 3He said to the Levites who taught all Israel, who were holy to Yahweh, "Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel built. There shall no more be a burden on your shoulders. Now serve Yahweh your God, and his people Israel. 4Prepare yourselves after your fathers' houses by your divisions, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son. 5Stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the fathers' houses of your brothers the children of the people, and [let there be for each] a portion of a fathers' house of the Levites. 6Kill the Passover, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare for your brothers, to do according to the word of Yahweh by Moses."

1He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. 2He sent them out to preach God's Kingdom and to heal the sick. 3He said to them, "Take nothing for your journey- no staff, no wallet, no bread, no money. Don't have two tunics each. 4Into whatever house you enter, stay there, and depart from there. 5As many as don't receive you, when you depart from that city, shake off even the dust from your feet for a testimony against them."
6They departed and went throughout the villages, preaching the Good News and healing everywhere.
7Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him; and he was very perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead, 8and by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the old prophets had risen again. 9Herod said, "I beheaded John, but who is this about whom I hear such things?" He sought to see him.
10The ambassadors, when they had returned, told him what things they had done. He took them and withdrew apart to a desert region of a city called Bethsaida. 11But the multitudes, perceiving it, followed him. He welcomed them, spoke to them of God's Kingdom, and he cured those who needed healing. 12The day began to wear away; and the twelve came and said to him, "Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding villages and farms, and lodge, and get food, for we are here in a deserted place."
13But he said to them, "You give them something to eat." They said, "We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we should go and buy food for all these people." 14For they were about five thousand men. He said to his disciples, "Make them sit down in groups of about fifty each." 15They did so, and made them all sit down. 16He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to the sky, he praised [God for them], broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. 17They ate and were all filled. They gathered up twelve baskets of broken pieces that were left over.
