Genesis Chapter 24

⁶¹Rebekah arose with her ladies. They rode on the camels, and followed the man. The servant took Rebekah, and went his way. ⁶²Isaac came from the way of Beer Lahai Roi, for he lived in the land of the South. ⁶³Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the evening. He lifted up his eyes and looked. Behold, there were camels coming. ⁶⁴Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she got off the camel. ⁶⁵She said to the servant, "Who is the man who is walking in the field to meet us?" The servant said, "It is my master." She took her veil, and covered herself. ⁶⁶The servant told Isaac all the things that he had done. ⁶⁷Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife. He loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.

Genesis Chapter 25

¹Abraham took another wife, and her name was Keturah. ²She bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. ³Jokshan fathered Sheba, and Dedan. The sons of Dedan were Asshurim, Letushim, and Leummim. ⁴The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah. ⁵Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac, ⁶but Abraham gave gifts to the sons of Abraham's concubines. While he still lived, he sent them away from Isaac his son, eastward, to the east country. ⁷These are the days of the years of Abraham's life which he lived: one hundred seventy-five years. ⁸Abraham breathed his last, and died at a good old age, an old man, and full of years, and was gathered to his people. ⁹Isaac and Ishmael, his sons, buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron, the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is near Mamre, ¹⁰the field which Abraham purchased from the children of Heth. Abraham was buried there with Sarah, his wife.

Judges Chapter 10

⁶The children of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and served the Baals, and the Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Sidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they abandoned Yahweh, and didn't serve him. ⁷The anger of Yahweh burned against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the children of Ammon. ⁸They troubled and oppressed the children of Israel that year: [for] eighteen years [they oppressed] all the children of Israel that were beyond the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead. ⁹The children of Ammon crossed over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was very distressed. ¹⁰The children of Israel cried to Yahweh, saying, "We have sinned against you, even because we have forsaken our God, and have served the Baals."

¹¹Yahweh said to the children of Israel, "Didn't I save you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines? ¹²The Sidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, oppressed you; and you cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand. ¹³Yet you have forsaken me, and served other gods: therefore I will save you no more. ¹⁴Go and cry to the gods which you have chosen. Let them save you in the time of your distress!"

¹⁵The children of Israel said to Yahweh, "We have sinned: do you to us whatever seems good to you; only deliver us, please, today." ¹⁶They rejected the foreign gods from among them, and served Yahweh; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

¹⁷Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. The children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpah. ¹⁸The people, the princes of Gilead, said to one another, "What man is he who will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? He shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead."

Judges Chapter 11

¹Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valor, and he was the son of a prostitute: and Gilead fathered Jephthah. ²Gilead's wife bore him sons; and when his wife's sons grew up, they drove out Jephthah, and said to him, "You shall not inherit in our father's house; for you are the son of another woman." ³Then Jephthah fled from his brothers, and lived in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain fellows to Jephthah, and they went out with him.

⁴After a while, the children of Ammon made war against Israel. ⁵When the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to get Jephthah out of the land of Tob; ⁶and they said to Jephthah, "Come and be our chief, that we may fight with the children of Ammon."

⁷Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, "Didn't you hate me, and drive me out of my father's house? Why have you come to me now when you are in distress?"

⁸The elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, "Therefore we have turned again to you now, that you may go with us, and fight with the children of Ammon; and you shall be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead."

⁹Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, "If you bring me home again to fight with the children of Ammon, and Yahweh deliver them before me, shall I be your head?"

¹⁰The elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, "Yahweh shall be witness between us; surely according to your word so will we do."

¹¹Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and chief over them: and Jephthah spoke all his words before Yahweh in Mizpah.

1 Chronicles Chapter 21

¹⁸Then the angel of Yahweh commanded Gad to tell David that David should go up, and raise an altar to Yahweh in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. ¹⁹David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the name of Yahweh.

²⁰Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons who were with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat. ²¹As David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshing floor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.

²²Then David said to Ornan, "Give me the place of this threshing floor, that I may build an altar to Yahweh on it. You shall sell it to me for the full price, that the plague may be stopped from afflicting the people."

²³Ornan said to David, "Take it for yourself, and let my lord the king do what is good in his eyes. Behold, I give the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meal offering. I give it all."

²⁴King David said to Ornan, "No; but I will most certainly buy it for the full price. For I will not take what is yours for Yahweh, nor offer a burnt offering without cost."

²⁵So David gave to Ornan six hundred shekels of gold by weight for the place. ²⁶David built an altar to Yahweh there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called on Yahweh; and he answered him from the sky by fire on the altar of burnt offering.

²⁷Yahweh commanded the angel; and he put up his sword back into its sheath.

²⁸At that time, when David saw that Yahweh had answered him in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there. ²⁹For the tabernacle of Yahweh, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering, were at that time in the high place at Gibeon. ³⁰But David couldn't go before it to inquire of God; for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of Yahweh.

1 Chronicles Chapter 22

¹Then David said, "This is the house of Yahweh God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel."

²David gave orders to gather together the foreigners who were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to cut worked stones to build God's house. ³David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the couplings; and bronze in abundance without weight; ⁴and cedar trees without number: for the Sidonians and they of Tyre brought cedar trees in abundance to David. ⁵David said, "Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for Yahweh must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries. I will therefore make preparation for it." So David prepared abundantly before his death.

Matthew Chapter 24

¹Jesus went out from the temple, and was going on his way. His disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple. ²But he answered them, "You see all of these things, don't you? Absolutely I tell you, there will not be left here one stone on another, that will not be thrown down."

³As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? What is the sign of your coming, and of the end of the age?"

⁴Jesus answered them, "Be careful that no one leads you astray. ⁵For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am AnointedOne,' and will lead many astray. ⁶You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren't troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet. ⁷For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places. ⁸But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.

⁹"Then they will deliver you up to oppression and will kill you. You will be hated by all the nations for my name's sake. ¹⁰Then many will stumble, and will deliver up one another, and will hate one another. ¹¹Many false prophets will arise and will lead many astray. ¹²Because iniquity will be multiplied, the selfless-love of many will grow cold. ¹³But he who endures to the end will be saved. ¹⁴This good-news of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world for a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

¹⁵"So, when you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), ¹⁶then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. ¹⁷Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take out the things that are in his house. ¹⁸Let him who is in the field not return back to get his clothes. ¹⁹But woe to those who are pregnant and to nursing mothers in those days! ²⁰Pray that your flight will not be in the winter nor on a Sabbath, ²¹for then there will be great suffering, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, nor ever will be. ²²Unless those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been saved. But for the sake of the chosen ones, those days will be shortened.

²³"Then if any man tells you, 'Behold, here is AnointedOne!' or, 'There!' don't believe it. ²⁴For pretend-AnointedOnes and false prophets will arise, and they will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones.

²⁵"Behold, I have told you beforehand.

²⁶"So if they tell you, 'Behold, he is in the wilderness,' don't go; or 'Behold, he is in the inner rooms,' don't believe it. ²⁷For as the lightning flashes from the east, and is seen even to the west, so will the arrival of the Son of Man be. ²⁸For wherever the carcass is, that is where the vultures gather together.
