29Moses said to Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, "We are journeying to the place of which Yahweh said, 'I will give it to you.' Come with us, and we will treat you well; for Yahweh has spoken good concerning Israel."
30He said to him, "I will not go; but I will depart to my own land, and to my relatives."
31He said, "Don't leave us, please; because you know how we are to camp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes. 32It shall be, if you go with us, yes, it shall be, that whatever good Yahweh does for us, we will do the same for you."
33They set forward from Yahweh's Mount three days' journey. The ark of Yahweh's covenant went before them three days' journey, to seek out a resting place for them. 34Yahweh's cloud was over them by day, when they set forward from the camp. 35When the ark went forward Moses said, "Rise up, Yahweh, and let your enemies be scattered! Let those who hate you flee before you!" 36When it rested, he said, "Return, Yahweh, to the myriads of the thousands of Israel."
1The people were complaining in Yahweh's ears. When Yahweh heard it, his anger burned; and Yahweh's fire burned among them, and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp. 2The people cried to Moses; and Moses prayed to Yahweh, and the fire abated. 3The name of that place was called Taberah, because Yahweh's fire burned among them.
4The mixed multitude that was among them lusted exceedingly. The children of Israel also wept again, and said, "Who will give us flesh to eat? 5We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt for nothing; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic; 6but now we have lost our appetite. There is nothing at all except this manna to look at." 7The manna was like coriander seed, and it looked like resin. 8The people went around, gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and boiled it in pots, and made cakes of it. Its taste was like the taste of fresh oil. 9When the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.

24Concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite you shall speak, saying, 25Thus speaks Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, saying, Because you have sent letters in your own name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, and to all the priests, saying, 26Yahweh has made you priest in the place of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in the house of Yahweh, for every man who is mad, and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in the stocks and in shackles. 27Now therefore, why haven't you rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who makes himself a prophet to you, 28because he has sent to us in Babylon, saying, [The captivity] is long: build houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them?
29Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet. 30Then came the word of Yahweh to Jeremiah, saying, 31"Send to all those of the captivity, saying, 'Yahweh says concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite, "Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, and I didn't send him, and he has caused you to trust in a lie," 32therefore Yahweh says, "Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his offspring; he shall not have a man to dwell among this people, nor will he see the good that I will do to my people, says Yahweh, because he has spoken rebellion against Yahweh.
1The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying, 2Thus speaks Yahweh, the God of Israel, saying, Write all the words that I have spoken to you in a book. 3For, behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will turn again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, says Yahweh; and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.
4These are the words that Yahweh spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah. 5For Yahweh says, "We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. 6Ask now, and see whether a man goes into labor with child[birth]. Why do I see every man with his hands on his waist, as a woman in labor, and all faces have become pale? 7Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. 8It shall come to pass in that day, says Yahweh of Armies, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and will burst your bonds; and strangers shall no more make him their bondservant; 9but they shall serve Yahweh their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up to them. 10Therefore don't you be afraid, O Jacob my servant, says Yahweh; neither be dismayed, Israel: for, behold, I will save you from afar, and your offspring from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be quiet and at ease, and none shall make him afraid. 11For I am with you, says Yahweh, to save you: for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have scattered you, but I will not make a full end of you; but I will correct you in measure, and will in no way leave you unpunished.
12For Yahweh says, "Your hurt is incurable, and your wound grievous. 13There is no one to plead your cause, that you may be bound up: you have no healing medicines. 14All your lovers have forgotten you; they don't seek you: for I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased. 15Why do you cry for your hurt? Your pain is incurable: for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased, I have done these things to you. 16Therefore all those who devour you shall be devoured; and all your adversaries, everyone of them, shall go into captivity; and those who plunder you shall be a plunder, and all who prey on you I will give for a prey. 17For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh; because they have called you an outcast, [saying], It is Zion, whom no man seeks after.

A Song. A Psalm by the sons of Korah. For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "The Suffering of Affliction." A contemplation by Heman, the Ezrahite.
1Yahweh, the God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before you. 2Let my prayer enter into your presence. Turn your ear to my cry. 3For my soul is full of troubles. My life draws near to Sheol. 4I am counted among those who go down into the pit. I am like a man who has no help, 5set apart among the dead, like the slaughtered who lie in the grave, whom you remember no more. They are cut off from your hand. 6You have laid me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths. 7Your wrath lies heavily on me. You have afflicted me with all your waves.
selah.
8You have taken my friends from me. You have made me an abomination to them. I am confined, and I can't escape. 9My eyes are dim from grief. I have called on you daily, Yahweh. I have spread out my hands to you. 10Do you show wonders to the dead? Do the dead rise up and praise you?
selah.
11Is your loving kindness declared in the grave? Or your faithfulness in Destruction? 12Are your wonders made known in the dark? Or your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? 13But to you, Yahweh, I have cried. In the morning, my prayer comes before you. 14Yahweh, why do you reject my soul? Why do you hide your face from me? 15I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up. While I suffer your terrors, I am distracted. 16Your fierce wrath has gone over me. Your terrors have cut me off. 17They came around me like water all day long. They completely engulfed me. 18You have put lover and friend far from me, and my friends into darkness.

23Now I do this for the sake of the Good News, that I may be a joint partaker of it. 24Don't you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, that you may win. 25Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a temporary crown, but we- a permanent one. 26So I run like that, not aimlessly. I fight like that, not beating the air, 27but I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected.
1Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2and were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3and all ate the same spiritual food; 4and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was AnointedOne. 5However with most of them, God was not well pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
6Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 7Don't be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play." 8Let's not commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell. 9Let's not test ForeverOne, as some of them tested, and perished by the serpents. 10Don't grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer. 11Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come. 12So let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn't fall.
13No testing has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tested above what you are able, but will with the testing also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
