Exodus Chapter 1

¹Now these are the names of the sons of Israel, who came into Egypt (every man and his household came with Jacob): ²Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, ³Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin, ⁴Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher. ⁵All the souls that came from Jacob's body were seventy souls. Joseph was already in Egypt. ⁶Joseph died, and so did all his brothers, and all that generation. ⁷The children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.

⁸Now there rose up a new king over Egypt, who didn't know Joseph. ⁹He said to his people, "Look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we are. ¹⁰Come, let's deal wisely with them, for fear they multiply and when a war breaks out, they join with our enemies, fight against us, and escape from the land." ¹¹Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. They built storage cities for Pharaoh: Pithom and Raamses. ¹²But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and the more they spread out. They started to dread the children of Israel. ¹³The Egyptians ruthlessly made the children of Israel serve, ¹⁴and they made their lives bitter with hard service in mortar and in brick, and in all kinds of service in the field, all their service, that they ruthlessly made them serve.

¹⁵The king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah, ¹⁶and he said, "When you perform the duty of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them on the birth stool, if it is a son, then kill him; but if it is a daughter, then let her live." ¹⁷But the midwives feared God, and didn't do what the king of Egypt commanded them, but let the baby boys live. ¹⁸The king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said to them, "Why have you done this thing and let the boys live?"

¹⁹The midwives said to Pharaoh, "Because the Hebrew women aren't like the Egyptian women; for they are vigorous and give birth before the midwife comes to them."

²⁰God dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied, and grew very mighty. ²¹Because the midwives feared God, he gave them families. ²²Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, "Throw every son who is born into the river, and every daughter let live."

2 Samuel Chapter 7

²⁵Now, Yahweh God, the word that you have spoken concerning your servant, and concerning his house, confirm it forever, and do as you have spoken. ²⁶Let your name be magnified forever, saying, 'Yahweh of Armies is God over Israel; and the house of your servant David shall be established before you.' ²⁷For you, Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, have revealed to your servant, saying, 'I will build you a house.' Therefore your servant has found in his heart to pray this prayer to you.

²⁸"Now, O LordOfMine Yahweh, you are God, and your words are truth, and you have promised this good thing to your servant. ²⁹Now therefore let it please you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, LordOfMine Yahweh, have spoken it. Let the house of your servant be blessed forever with your blessing."

2 Samuel Chapter 8

¹After this David struck the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took the bridle of the mother city out of the hand of the Philistines. ²He struck Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

³David struck also Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his dominion at the River. ⁴David took from him one thousand seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for one hundred chariots. ⁵When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. ⁶Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went. ⁷David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. ⁸From Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much bronze.

⁹When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer, ¹⁰then Toi sent Joram his son to king David, to Greet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. [Joram] brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of bronze: ¹¹These also did king David dedicate to Yahweh, with the silver and gold that he dedicated of all the nations which he subdued; ¹²of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the plunder of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

¹³David earned a reputation when he returned from smiting the Syrians in the Valley of Salt, even eighteen thousand men. ¹⁴He put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.

¹⁵David reigned over all Israel; and David executed justice and righteousness to all his people. ¹⁶Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; ¹⁷and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Seraiah was scribe; ¹⁸and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada [was over] the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief ministers.

2 Chronicles Chapter 29

³¹Then Hezekiah answered, "Now you have consecrated yourselves to Yahweh; come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of Yahweh." The assembly brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a willing heart [brought] burnt offerings. ³²The number of the burnt offerings which the assembly brought was seventy bulls, one hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to Yahweh. ³³The consecrated things were six hundred head of cattle and three thousand sheep. ³⁴But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: therefore their brothers the Levites helped them, until the work was ended, and until the priests had sanctified themselves; for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests. ³⁵Also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and with the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of Yahweh was set in order. ³⁶Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, because of what God had prepared for the people: for the thing was done suddenly.

2 Chronicles Chapter 30

¹Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of Yahweh at Jerusalem, to keep the Passover to Yahweh, the God of Israel. ²For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the assembly in Jerusalem, to keep the Passover in the second month. ³For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves in sufficient number, neither had the people gathered themselves together to Jerusalem. ⁴The thing was right in the eyes of the king and of all the assembly. ⁵So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the Passover to Yahweh, the God of Israel, at Jerusalem: for they had not kept it in great numbers in such sort as it is written.

⁶So the couriers went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, "You children of Israel, turn again to Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that he may return to the remnant that have escaped of you out of the hand of the kings of Assyria. ⁷Don't be like your fathers, and like your brothers, who trespassed against Yahweh, the God of their fathers, so that he gave them up to desolation, as you see. ⁸Now don't be stiff-necked, as your fathers were; but yield yourselves to Yahweh, and enter into his sanctuary, which he has sanctified forever, and serve Yahweh your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you. ⁹For if you turn again to Yahweh, your brothers and your children shall find compassion before those who led them captive, and shall return to this land: for Yahweh your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him."

Luke Chapter 5

¹¹When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything, and followed him.

¹²While he was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man full of leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell on his face, and begged him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean."

¹³He stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I want to. Be made clean." Immediately the leprosy left him. ¹⁴He commanded him to tell no one, "But go your way, and show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing according to what Moses commanded, for a testimony to them."

¹⁵But the report concerning him spread much more, and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. ¹⁶But he withdrew himself into the desert, and prayed.

¹⁷On one of those days, he was teaching; and there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every village of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. The power of ForeverOne was with him to heal them. ¹⁸Behold, men brought a paralyzed man on a stretcher, and they sought to bring him in to lay before Jesus. ¹⁹Not finding a way to bring him in because of the multitude, they went up to the housetop, and let him down through the tiles with his bed into the middle before Jesus. ²⁰Seeing their faith, he said to him, "Man, your sins are forgiven you."

²¹The scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is this speaking blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?"

²²But Jesus, perceiving their thoughts, answered them, "Why are you reasoning so in your hearts? ²³Which is easier to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you;' or to say, 'Arise and walk?' ²⁴But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins" (he said to the paralyzed man), "I tell you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house."

²⁵Immediately he rose up before them, and took up what he was laying on, and departed to his house, glorifying God. ²⁶Amazement took hold on all, and they glorified God. They were filled with fear, saying, "We have seen strange things today."

²⁷After these things he went out, and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the tax office, and said to him, "Follow me!"

²⁸He left everything, and rose up and followed him. ²⁹Levi made a great feast for him in his house. There was a great crowd of tax collectors and others who were reclining with them. ³⁰Their scribes and the Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, "Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and shortcomers?"

³¹Jesus answered them, "Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do. ³²I have not come to call the righteous, but shortcomers to repentance."
