26Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 27"However on the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement. It shall be a holy convocation to you. Deny yourselves and offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh. 28Do no kind of work on that same day, for it is a day of atonement, to make atonement for you in Yahweh your God's presence. 29For whoever it is who shall not deny himself in that same day shall be cut off from his people. 30Whoever does any kind of work on that day, I will destroy that person from among his people. 31Do no kind of work. This is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. 32It shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for you, and deny yourselves. Keep your Sabbath on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening."
33Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 34"Speak to the children of Israel, and say, 'On the fifteenth day of this seventh month is the feast of temporary-shelters for seven days to Yahweh. 35On the first day shall be a holy convocation. Do no regular work. 36Offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh for seven days. The eighth day is a holy convocation for you. Offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh. It is a solemn assembly. Do no regular work.
37"'These are Yahweh's appointed feasts, which you must proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh, a burnt offering, a meal offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, each on its own day- 38in addition to Yahweh's Sabbaths, and in addition to your gifts, and in addition to all your vows, and in addition to all your freewill offerings, which you give to Yahweh.
39"'So on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruits of the land, keep Yahweh's feast for seven days. The first day will be a solemn rest, and the eighth day will be a solemn rest. 40Take on the first day the fruit of majestic trees, branches of palm trees, and boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and rejoice in Yahweh your God's presence for seven days. 41Keep it as a feast to Yahweh for seven days in the year. It is a statute forever throughout your generations. Keep it in the seventh month. 42Live in temporary-shelters for seven days. All who are native-born in Israel should live in temporary-shelters, 43so that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel live in temporary-shelters when I brought them from the land of Egypt. I am Yahweh your God.'"
44So Moses declared to the children of Israel Yahweh's appointed feasts.

By David.
1Contend, Yahweh, with those who contend with me. Fight against those who fight against me. 2Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help. 3Brandish the spear and block those who pursue me. Tell my soul, "I am your salvation." 4Let those who seek after my soul be disappointed and brought to dishonor. Let those who plot my ruin be turned back and confounded. 5Let them be as chaff before the wind, Yahweh's angel driving them on. 6Let their way be dark and slippery, Yahweh's angel pursuing them. 7For without cause they have hidden their net in a pit for me. Without cause they have dug a pit for my soul. 8Let destruction come on him unawares. Let his net that he has hidden catch himself. Let him fall into that destruction. 9My soul shall be joyful in Yahweh. It shall rejoice in his salvation. 10All my bones shall say, "Yahweh, who is like you, who delivers the poor from him who is too strong for him; yes, the poor and the needy from him who robs him?" 11Unrighteous witnesses rise up. They ask me about things that I don't know about. 12They reward me evil for good, to the bereaving of my soul. 13But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth. I afflicted my soul with fasting. My prayer returned into my own bosom. 14I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother. I bowed down mourning, as one who mourns his mother. 15But in my adversity, they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together. The attackers gathered themselves together against me, and I didn't know it. They tore at me, and didn't cease. 16Like the profane mockers in feasts, they gnashed their teeth at me. 17LordOfMine, how long will you look on? Rescue my soul from their destruction, my precious life from the lions. 18I will give you thanks in the great assembly. I will praise you among many people. 19Don't let those who are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me; neither let those who hate me without a cause wink their eyes. 20For they don't speak peace, but they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land. 21Yes, they opened their mouth wide against me. They said, "Aha! Aha! Our eye has seen it!" 22You have seen it, Yahweh. Don't keep silent. LordOfMine, don't be far from me. 23Wake up! Rise up to defend me, my God! LordOfMine, contend for me! 24Vindicate me, Yahweh my God, according to your righteousness. Don't let them gloat over me. 25Don't let them say in their heart, "Aha! That's the way we want it!" Don't let them say, "We have swallowed him up!" 26Let them be disappointed and confounded together who rejoice at my calamity. Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves against me. 27Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause. Yes, let them say continually, "Yahweh be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant!" 28My tongue shall talk about your righteousness and about your praise all day long.

22So the commanding officer let the young man go, charging him, "Tell no one that you have revealed these things to me."
23He called to himself two of the centurions, and said, "Prepare two hundred soldiers to go as far as Caesarea, with seventy horsemen, and two hundred men armed with spears, at the third hour of the night." 24He asked them to provide animals, that they might set Paul on one, and bring him safely to Felix the governor. 25He wrote a letter like this:
26"Claudius Lysias to the most excellent governor Felix: Greetings.
27"This man was seized by the Jews, and was about to be killed by them, when I came with the soldiers and rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman. 28Desiring to know the cause why they accused him, I brought him down to their council. 29I found him to be accused about questions of their law, but not to be charged with anything worthy of death or of imprisonment. 30When I was told that the Jews lay in wait for the man, I sent him to you immediately, charging his accusers also to bring their accusations against him before you. Farewell."
31So the soldiers, carrying out their orders, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris. 32But on the next day they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the barracks. 33When they came to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they also presented Paul to him. 34When the governor had read it, he asked what province he was from. When he understood that he was from Cilicia, he said, 35"I will hear you fully when your accusers also arrive." He commanded that he be kept in Herod's palace.
1After five days, the high priest, Ananias, came down with certain elders and an orator, one Tertullus. They informed the governor against Paul. 2When he was called, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, "Seeing that by you we enjoy much peace, and that prosperity is coming to this nation by your foresight, 3we accept it in all ways and in all places, most excellent Felix, with all thankfulness. 4But that I don't delay you, I entreat you to bear with us and hear a few words.
