Genesis Chapter 50

¹²His sons did to him just as he commanded them, ¹³for his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field, as a possession for a burial site, from Ephron the Hittite, near Mamre. ¹⁴Joseph returned to Egypt after he had buried his father; he, his brothers, and all that had gone up with him to bury his father.

¹⁵When Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, "It may be that Joseph will hate us, and will fully pay us back for all of the evil we did to him." ¹⁶They sent a message to Joseph, saying, "Your father commanded before he died, saying, ¹⁷'Tell Joseph, "Now please forgive the disobedience of your brothers, and their sin, because they did evil to you."' Now, please forgive the disobedience of the servants of the God of your father." Joseph wept when they spoke to him. ¹⁸His brothers also went and fell down before his face; and they said, "Behold, we are your servants." ¹⁹Joseph said to them, "Don't be afraid, for am I in the place of God? ²⁰As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to save many people alive, as is happening today. ²¹So don't be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones." He comforted them, and spoke kindly to them.

²²Joseph lived in Egypt, he, and his father's house. Joseph lived one hundred ten years. ²³Joseph saw Ephraim's children to the third generation. The children also of Machir, the son of Manasseh, were born on Joseph's knees. ²⁴Joseph said to his brothers, "I am dying, but God will surely visit you, and bring you up from this land to the land which he swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob." ²⁵Joseph took an oath from the children of Israel, saying, "God will surely look after you. You must carry my bones [away from here]." ²⁶So Joseph died, aged one hundred ten, and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

2 Samuel Chapter 7

¹When the king lived in his house, and Yahweh had given him rest from all his enemies all around, ²the king said to Nathan the prophet, "See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but God's ark dwells within curtains."

³Nathan said to the king, "Go, do all that is in your heart; for Yahweh is with you."

⁴That same night the word of Yahweh came to Nathan, saying, ⁵"Go and tell my servant David, 'Yahweh says, "Shall you build me a house for me to dwell in? ⁶For I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have moved around in a tent and in a tabernacle. ⁷In all places in which I have walked with all the children of Israel, did I say a word to any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people Israel, saying, 'Why have you not built me a house of cedar?'"' ⁸Now therefore you shall tell my servant David this, 'Yahweh of Armies says, "I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, so you could be prince over my people, over Israel. ⁹I have been with you wherever you went, and have cut off all your enemies from before you. I will make you a great name, like the name of the great ones who are in the earth. ¹⁰I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more; nor will the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as at the first, ¹¹and as from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. I will cause you to rest from all your enemies. Moreover Yahweh tells you that Yahweh will make you a house. ¹²When your days are fulfilled, and you shall sleep with your fathers, I will set up your offspring after you, who shall proceed out of your body, and I will establish his kingdom. ¹³He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. ¹⁴I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the lashes of the children of men; ¹⁵but my loving kindness shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before you. ¹⁶Your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever."'" ¹⁷According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

¹⁸Then David the king went in, and sat before Yahweh; and he said, "Who am I, LordOfMine Yahweh, and what is my house, that you have brought me this far? ¹⁹This was yet a small thing in your eyes, LordOfMine Yahweh; but you have spoken also of your servant's house for a great while to come; and this after the way of men, LordOfMine Yahweh! ²⁰What more can David say to you? For you know your servant, LordOfMine Yahweh. ²¹For your word's sake, and according to your own heart, you have worked all this greatness, to make your servant know it. ²²Therefore you are great, Yahweh God. For there is none like you, neither is there any God besides you, exactly as we have heard with our ears. ²³What one nation in the earth is like your people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem to himself for a people, and to make him a name, and to do great things for you, and awesome things for your land, before your people, whom you redeem to you out of Egypt, [from] the nations and their gods? ²⁴You established for yourself your people Israel to be a people to you forever; and you, Yahweh, became their God.

2 Chronicles Chapter 29

¹⁸Then they went in to Hezekiah the king within [the palace], and said, "We have cleansed all the house of Yahweh, and the altar of burnt offering, with all its vessels, and the show table, with all its vessels. ¹⁹Moreover, we have prepared and sanctified all the vessels which king Ahaz threw away in his reign when he was unfaithful. Behold, they are before the altar of Yahweh."

²⁰Then Hezekiah the king arose early, and gathered the princes of the city, and went up to the house of Yahweh. ²¹They brought seven bulls, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven male goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah. He commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of Yahweh. ²²So they killed the bulls, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: and they killed the rams, and sprinkled the blood on the altar: they killed also the lambs, and sprinkled the blood on the altar. ²³They brought near the male goats for the sin offering before the king and the assembly; and they laid their hands on them: ²⁴and the priests killed them, and they made a sin offering with their blood on the altar, to make atonement for all Israel; for the king commanded [that] the burnt offering and the sin offering [should be made] for all Israel.

²⁵He set the Levites in the house of Yahweh with cymbals, with stringed instruments, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet; for the commandment was of Yahweh by his prophets. ²⁶The Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets. ²⁷Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering on the altar. When the burnt offering began, the song of Yahweh began also, and the trumpets, together with the instruments of David king of Israel. ²⁸All the assembly worshiped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded; all this [continued] until the burnt offering was finished.

²⁹When they had finished offering, the king and all who were present with him bowed themselves and worshiped. ³⁰Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praises to Yahweh with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. They sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshiped.

Luke Chapter 4

³³In the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, ³⁴saying, "Ah! what have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are: the Holy One of God!"

³⁵Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be silent, and come out of him!" When the demon had thrown him down in the middle of them, he came out of him, having done him no harm.

³⁶Amazement came on all, and they spoke together, with one another, saying, "What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!" ³⁷News about him went out into every place of the surrounding region.

³⁸He rose up from the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. Simon's mother-in-law was afflicted with a great fever, and they begged him for her. ³⁹He stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her. Immediately she rose up and served them. ⁴⁰When the sun was setting, all those who had any sick with various diseases brought them to him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. ⁴¹Demons also came out of many, crying out, and saying, "You are AnointedOne, the Son of God!" Rebuking them, he didn't allow them to speak, because they knew that he was AnointedOne.

⁴²When it was day, he departed and went into an uninhabited place, and the multitudes looked for him, and came to him, and held on to him, so that he wouldn't go away from them. ⁴³But he said to them, "I must proclaim-good-news [about] the kingdom of God in other cities also. For this purpose I have been sent." ⁴⁴He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

Luke Chapter 5

¹Now while the multitude pressed on him and heard the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret. ²He saw two boats standing by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets. ³He entered into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little from the land. He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.

⁴When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch."

⁵Simon answered him, "Master, we worked all night, and took nothing; but at your word I will let down the net." ⁶When they had done this, they caught a great multitude of fish, and their net was breaking. ⁷They beckoned to their partners in the other boat, that they should come and help them. They came, and filled both boats, so that they began to sink.
