26Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 27"When a bull, a sheep, or a goat is born, it shall remain with its mother for seven days. From the eighth day on it shall be accepted for the offering of an offering made by fire to Yahweh. 28Whether it is a cow or ewe, you mustn't kill it and its young both in one day.
29"When you sacrifice a sacrifice of thanksgiving to Yahweh, sacrifice it that you may be accepted. 30It must be eaten on the same day; leave none of it until morning. I am Yahweh.
31"Therefore keep my commandments, and do them. I am Yahweh. 32Don't profane my holy name, but I will be made holy among the children of Israel. I am Yahweh who makes you holy, 33who brought you from the land of Egypt, to be your God. I am Yahweh."
1Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 2"Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, 'Yahweh's set feasts, which you must proclaim to be holy convocations, these are my set feasts.
3"'For six days work may be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation; do no kind of work. It is a Sabbath to Yahweh in all your dwellings.
4"'These are Yahweh's set feasts, holy convocations, which you must proclaim in their appointed season. 5In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month in the evening, is Yahweh's Passover. 6On the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread to Yahweh. Eat unleavened bread for seven days. 7On the first day have a holy convocation. Do no regular work. 8But offer an offering made by fire to Yahweh for seven days. On the seventh day is a holy convocation. Do no regular work.'"
9Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 10"Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, 'When you have entered the land that I am giving to you, and shall reap its harvest, then bring the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest. 11He shall wave the sheaf in Yahweh's presence, to be accepted for you. On the next day after the Sabbath the priest is to wave it. 12On the day when you wave the sheaf, offer a male lamb without defect a year old for a burnt offering to Yahweh. 13The meal offering with it shall be two tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, an offering made by fire to Yahweh for a pleasant aroma; and the drink offering with it shall be of wine, a quarter of a hin. 14You must not eat bread, or roasted grain, or fresh grain, until this same day, until you have brought the offering of your God. This is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

By David. A contemplative psalm.
1Blessed is he whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2Blessed is the man to whom Yahweh doesn't impute iniquity, in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4For day and night your hand was heavy on me. My strength was sapped in the heat of summer.
selah.
5I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn't hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.
selah.
6For this, let everyone who is godly pray to you in a time when you may be found. Surely when the great waters overflow, they shall not reach to him. 7You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance.
selah.
8I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. 9Don't be like the horse, or like the mule, which have no understanding, who are controlled by bit and bridle, or else they will not come near to you. 10Many sorrows come to the wicked, but loving kindness shall surround him who trusts in Yahweh. 11Be glad in Yahweh, and rejoice, you righteous! Shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart!
1Rejoice in Yahweh, you righteous! Praise is fitting for the upright. 2Give thanks to Yahweh with the lyre. Sing praises to him with the harp of ten strings. 3Sing to him a new song. Play skillfully with a shout of joy! 4For the word of Yahweh is right. All his work is done in faithfulness. 5He loves righteousness and justice. The earth is full of the loving kindness of Yahweh. 6By Yahweh's word, the heavens were made; all their army by the breath of his mouth. 7He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap. He lays up the deeps in storehouses. 8Let all the earth fear Yahweh. Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 9For he spoke, and it was done. He commanded, and it stood firm. 10Yahweh brings the counsel of the nations to nothing. He makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect. 11The counsel of Yahweh stands fast forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. 12Blessed is the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance. 13Yahweh looks from heaven. He sees all the sons of men. 14From the place of his habitation he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, 15he who fashions all of their hearts; and he considers all of their works. 16There is no king saved by the multitude of an army. A mighty man is not delivered by great strength. 17A horse is a vain thing for safety, neither does he deliver any by his great power. 18Behold, Yahweh's eye is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his loving kindness; 19to deliver their soul from death, to keep them alive in famine. 20Our soul has waited for Yahweh. He is our help and our shield. 21For our heart rejoices in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. 22Let your loving kindness be on us, Yahweh, since we have hoped in you.

17"When I had returned to Jerusalem, and while I prayed in the temple, I fell into a trance, 18and saw him saying to me, 'Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not receive testimony concerning me from you.' 19I said, 'Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue those who believed in you. 20When the blood of Stephen, your witness, was shed, I also was standing by, consenting to his death, and guarding the cloaks of those who killed him.'
21"He said to me, 'Depart, for I will send you out far from here to the Gentiles.'"
22They listened to him until he said that; then they lifted up their voice and said, "Rid the earth of this fellow, for he isn't fit to live!"
23As they cried out, threw off their cloaks, and threw dust into the air, 24the commanding officer commanded him to be brought into the barracks, ordering him to be examined by whipping, that he might know for what crime they shouted against him like that. 25When they had tied him up with straps, Paul asked the centurion who stood by, "Is it lawful for you to whip a man who is a Roman, and not found guilty?"
26When the centurion heard it, he went to the commanding officer and told him, "Watch what you are about to do, for this man is a Roman!"
27The commanding officer came and asked him, "Tell me, are you a Roman?" He said, "Yes."
28The commanding officer answered, "I bought my citizenship for a great price." Paul said, "But I was born a Roman."
29Immediately those who were about to examine him departed from him, and the commanding officer also was afraid when he realized that he was a Roman, because he had bound him. 30But on the next day, desiring to know the truth about why he was accused by the Jews, he freed him from the bonds, and commanded the chief priests and all the council to come together, and brought Paul down and set him before them.
1Paul, looking steadfastly at the council, said, "Brothers, I have lived before God in all good conscience until this very day."
2The high priest, Ananias, commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.
3Then Paul said to him, "God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit to judge me according to the law, and command me to be struck contrary to the law?"
4Those who stood by said, "Do you malign God's high priest?"
5Paul said, "I didn't know, brothers, that he was high priest. For it is written, 'You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.'"
