Exodus Chapter 16

⁶Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, "In the evening, you will know that Yahweh has brought you out from the land of Egypt. ⁷In the morning, you will see Yahweh's glory; because he hears your murmurings against Yahweh. Who are we, that you murmur against us?" ⁸Moses said, "Now Yahweh will give you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to satisfy you, because Yahweh hears your murmurings which you murmur against him. And who are we? Your murmurings are not against us, but against Yahweh." ⁹Moses said to Aaron, "Tell all the congregation of the children of Israel, 'Come close to Yahweh, for he has heard your murmurings.'" ¹⁰As Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, Yahweh's glory appeared in the cloud. ¹¹Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ¹²"I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel. Tell them, saying, 'In the evening, you'll eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am Yahweh your God.'"

¹³In the evening, quail came up and covered the camp; and in the morning the dew lay around the camp. ¹⁴When the dew that lay had gone, behold, on the surface of the wilderness was a small round thing, small as the frost on the ground. ¹⁵When the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, "What is it?" For they didn't know what it was. Moses said to them, "It is the bread which Yahweh has given you to eat. ¹⁶This is what Yahweh has commanded: 'Everyone gather it according to his appetite, an omer per person. Every man take it for those who are in his tent.'" ¹⁷The children of Israel did so, and some gathered more, some less. ¹⁸When they measured it with an omer, he who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little had no lack. They each gathered according to their eating. ¹⁹Moses said to them, "Let no one leave any of it until morning." ²⁰Nevertheless they didn't listen to Moses, but some of them left of it until the morning, so it bred worms and became foul. Moses was angry with them. ²¹They gathered it morning by morning, everyone according to their appetite. When the sun grew hot, it melted.

1 Kings Chapter 6

³¹For the entrance of the oracle he made doors of olive wood: the lintel [and] door posts were a fifth part [of the wall]. ³²So [he made] two doors of olive wood; and he carved on them carvings of throne-angels and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold on the throne-angels, and on the palm trees. ³³So he also made door posts of olive wood for the entrance of the temple, out of a fourth part [of the wall]; ³⁴and two doors of fir wood: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding. ³⁵He carved throne-angels, palm trees and open flowers; and he smoothly overlaid the carving with gold. ³⁶He built the inner court with three courses of cut stone, and a course of cedar beams.

³⁷In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of Yahweh laid, in the month Ziv. ³⁸In the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all its parts, and according to all its fashion. So was he seven years in building it.

1 Kings Chapter 7

¹Solomon was building his own house thirteen years, and he finished all his house. ²For he built the house of the forest of Lebanon; its length was one hundred cubits, and its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits, on four rows of cedar pillars, with cedar beams on the pillars. ³It was covered with cedar above over the forty-five beams, that were on the pillars; fifteen in a row. ⁴There were beams in three rows, and window was over against window in three ranks. ⁵All the doors and posts were made square with beams: and window was over against window in three ranks. ⁶He made the porch of pillars; its length was fifty cubits, and its width thirty cubits; and a porch before them; and pillars and a threshold before them. ⁷He made the porch of the throne where he was to judge, even the porch of judgment: and it was covered with cedar from floor to floor. ⁸His house where he was to dwell, the other court within the porch, was of the like work. He also made a house like this porch for Pharaoh's daughter (whom Solomon had taken [to be his] wife). ⁹All these were of costly stones, even of cut stone, according to measure, sawed with saws, inside and outside, even from the foundation to the coping, and so on the outside to the great court. ¹⁰The foundation was of costly stones, even great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of eight cubits. ¹¹Above were costly stones, even cut stone, according to measure, and cedar wood. ¹²The great court around had three courses of cut stone, and a course of cedar beams; like as the inner court of the house of Yahweh, and the porch of the house.

¹³King Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre. ¹⁴He was the son of a widow of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in bronze; and he was filled with wisdom and understanding and skill, to work all works in bronze. He came to king Solomon, and performed all his work. ¹⁵For he fashioned the two pillars of bronze, eighteen cubits high apiece: and a line of twelve cubits encircled either of them about. ¹⁶He made two capitals of cast bronze, to set on the tops of the pillars: the height of the one capital was five cubits, and the height of the other capital was five cubits. ¹⁷There were nets of checker work, and wreaths of chain work, for the capitals which were on the top of the pillars; seven for the one capital, and seven for the other capital. ¹⁸So he made the pillars; and there were two rows around on the one network, to cover the capitals that were on the top of the pillars: and so did he for the other capital. ¹⁹The capitals that were on the top of the pillars in the porch were of lily work, four cubits. ²⁰There were capitals above also on the two pillars, close by the belly which was beside the network: and the pomegranates were two hundred, in rows around on the other capital. ²¹He set up the pillars at the porch of the temple. He set up the right pillar, and called its name Jachin; and he set up the left pillar, and called its name Boaz. ²²On the top of the pillars was lily work: so was the work of the pillars finished.

Ezra Chapter 10

¹⁵Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahzeiah the son of Tikvah stood up against this; and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.

¹⁶The children of the captivity did so. Ezra the priest, [with] certain heads of fathers' [households], after their fathers' houses, and all of them by their names, were set apart; and they sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter. ¹⁷They made an end with all the men who had married foreign women by the first day of the first month.

¹⁸Among the sons of the priests there were found who had married foreign women: [namely], of the sons of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and his brothers, Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah. ¹⁹They gave their hand that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, [they offered] a ram of the flock for their guilt. ²⁰Of the sons of Immer: Hanani and Zebadiah. ²¹Of the sons of Harim: Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah. ²²Of the sons of Pashhur: Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad, and Elasah. ²³Of the Levites: Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah (also called Kelita), Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer. ²⁴Of the singers: Eliashib. Of the gatekeepers: Shallum, and Telem, and Uri. ²⁵Of Israel: Of the sons of Parosh: Ramiah, and Izziah, and Malchijah, and Mijamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah. ²⁶Of the sons of Elam: Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Elijah. ²⁷Of the sons of Zattu: Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza. ²⁸Of the sons of Bebai: Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Athlai. ²⁹Of the sons of Bani: Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, Jeremoth. ³⁰Of the sons of Pahathmoab: Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, and Binnui, and Manasseh. ³¹[of] the sons of Harim: Eliezer, Isshijah, Malchijah, Shemaiah, Shimeon, ³²Benjamin, Malluch, Shemariah. ³³Of the sons of Hashum: Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, Shimei. ³⁴Of the sons of Bani: Maadai, Amram, and Uel, ³⁵Benaiah, Bedeiah, Cheluhi, ³⁶Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib, ³⁷Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasu, ³⁸and Bani, and Binnui, Shimei, ³⁹and Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah, ⁴⁰Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai, ⁴¹Azarel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah, ⁴²Shallum, Amariah, Joseph. ⁴³Of the sons of Nebo: Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Iddo, and Joel, Benaiah.

⁴⁴All these had taken foreign wives; and some of them had wives by whom they had children.

Luke Chapter 18

²⁴Jesus, seeing that he became very sad, said, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into the kingdom of God! ²⁵For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle's eye than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

²⁶Those who heard it said, "Then who can be saved?"

²⁷But he said, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God."

²⁸Peter said, "Look, we have left everything and followed you."

²⁹He said to them, "Absolutely I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, ³⁰who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the world to come, eternal life."

³¹He took the twelve aside, and said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be completed. ³²For he will be delivered up to the Gentiles, will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit on. ³³They will scourge and kill him. On the third day, he will rise again."

³⁴They understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they didn't understand the things that were said.

³⁵As he came near Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the road, begging. ³⁶Hearing a multitude going by, he asked what this meant. ³⁷They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. ³⁸He cried out, "Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!" ³⁹Those who led the way rebuked him, that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, "You son of David, have mercy on me!"

⁴⁰Standing still, Jesus commanded him to be brought to him. When he had come near, he asked him, ⁴¹"What do you want me to do?" He said, "Lord, that I may see again."

⁴²Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you."

⁴³Immediately he received his sight and followed him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw it, praised God.
