Genesis Chapter 19

²⁷Early in the morning Abraham went to the place where he had stood with Yahweh. ²⁸He looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and saw that the smoke of the land went up like the smoke of a furnace.

²⁹When God destroyed the cities of the plain, God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot away from the middle of the upheaval, when he overthrew the cities where Lot lived.

³⁰Lot left Zoar, and lived in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he was afraid to live in Zoar. He lived in a cave with his two daughters. ³¹The firstborn said to the younger, "Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in to us in the way of all the earth. ³²Come, let's make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, to preserve our father's family line." ³³They made their father drink wine that night. The firstborn went in, and lay with her father. He didn't know when she lay down, nor when she arose. ³⁴The next day the firstborn said to the younger, "Behold, I lay last night with my father. Let's make him drink wine again tonight. You go in and lie with him, to preserve our father's family line." ³⁵They made their father drink wine that night also. The younger went and lay with him. He didn't know when she lay down, nor when she got up. ³⁶So both of Lot's daughters were pregnant by their father. ³⁷The firstborn bore a son, and named him Moab. He is the father of the Moabites to this day. ³⁸The younger also bore a son, and called his name Ben Ammi. He is the father of the children of Ammon to this day.

Judges Chapter 2

¹⁸When Yahweh raised them up judges, then Yahweh was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it grieved Yahweh because of their groaning by reason of those who oppressed them and troubled them. ¹⁹But when the judge was dead they turned back, and dealt more corruptly than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down to them; they didn't cease from their actions, nor from their stubborn way. ²⁰The anger of Yahweh burned against Israel; and he said, "Because this nation have transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not listened to my voice; ²¹From now on I will no longer drive out any of the nations from before them that Joshua left when he died; ²²that by them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of Yahweh to walk in it as their fathers kept it, or not." ²³So Yahweh left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.

Judges Chapter 3

¹Now these are the nations which Yahweh left, to prove Israel by them, even as many [of Israel] as had not known all the wars of Canaan; ²only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least those who knew nothing of it before: ³the five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites who lived on Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal Hermon to the entrance of Hamath. ⁴They were [left], to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would listen to the commandments of Yahweh, which he commanded their fathers by Moses. ⁵The children of Israel lived among the Canaanites, the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites: ⁶and they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their own daughters to their sons and served their gods. ⁷The children of Israel did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and forgot Yahweh their God, and served the Baals and the Asheroth. ⁸Therefore the anger of Yahweh burned against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Cushan Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Cushan Rishathaim eight years. ⁹When the children of Israel cried to Yahweh, Yahweh raised up a savior to the children of Israel, who saved them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother. ¹⁰The Spirit of Yahweh came on him, and he judged Israel; and he went out to war, and Yahweh delivered Cushan Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand. His hand prevailed against Cushan Rishathaim. ¹¹The land had rest forty years. Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

¹²The children of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh: and Yahweh strengthened Eglon king of Moab against Israel, because they had done what was evil in the sight of Yahweh. ¹³He gathered to him the children of Ammon and Amalek; and he went and struck Israel, and they possessed the city of palm trees. ¹⁴The children of Israel served Eglon king of Moab for eighteen years. ¹⁵But when the children of Israel cried to Yahweh, Yahweh raised them up a savior, Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjamite, a man left-handed. The children of Israel sent tribute by him to Eglon king of Moab. ¹⁶Ehud made him a sword which had two edges, a cubit in length; and he wore it under his clothing on his right thigh. ¹⁷He offered the tribute to Eglon king of Moab: now Eglon was a very fat man. ¹⁸When he had finished offering the tribute, he sent away the people who had carried the tribute. ¹⁹But he himself turned back from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, "I have a secret errand to you, king." The king said, "Keep silence!" All who stood by him went out from him.

1 Chronicles Chapter 13

⁹When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza reached out his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled. ¹⁰The anger of Yahweh burned against Uzza, and he struck him, because he reached out his hand to the ark; and there he died before God. ¹¹David was displeased, because Yahweh had broken out on Uzza; and he called that place Perez Uzza, to this day. ¹²David was afraid of God that day, saying, "How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?" ¹³So David didn't move the ark to him into the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. ¹⁴The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months: and Yahweh blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that he had.

1 Chronicles Chapter 14

¹Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and masons, and carpenters, to build him a house. ²David perceived that Yahweh had established him king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, for his people Israel's sake.

³David took more wives at Jerusalem; and David fathered more sons and daughters. ⁴These are the names of the children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon, ⁵and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet, ⁶and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia, ⁷and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

⁸When the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went out against them. ⁹Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim. ¹⁰David inquired of God, saying, "Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?" Yahweh said to him, "Go up; for I will deliver them into your hand."

¹¹So they came up to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there; and David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like the breach of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim. ¹²They left their gods there; and David gave commandment, and they were burned with fire.

Matthew Chapter 18

¹²"What do you think? If a man has one hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, doesn't he leave the ninety-nine, go to the mountains, and seek what has gone astray? ¹³If he finds it, absolutely I tell you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine which have not gone astray. ¹⁴Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

¹⁵"If your brother falls-short against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother. ¹⁶But if he doesn't listen, take one or two more with you, that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. ¹⁷If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembly. If he refuses to hear the assembly also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector. ¹⁸Absolutely I tell you, whatever things you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever things you release on earth will have been released in heaven. ¹⁹Again, assuredly I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven. ²⁰For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them."

²¹Then Peter came and said to him, "Lord, how often shall I forgive my brother who falls-short against me? Until seven times?"

²²Jesus said to him, "I don't tell you until seven times, but, until seventy times seven. ²³So the Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. ²⁴When he had begun to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. ²⁵But because he couldn't pay, his master commanded him to be sold, with his wife, his children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. ²⁶So the servant fell down and knelt before him, saying, 'Master, have patience with me, and I will repay it all!' ²⁷The master of that servant, being moved with compassion, released him and forgave him the debt.

²⁸"But that servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him one hundred denarii, and he grabbed him and took him by the throat, saying, 'Pay me what you owe!'

²⁹"So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, 'Have patience with me, and I will repay you!' ³⁰He would not, but went and threw him into prison until he should pay back what was due. ³¹So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were exceedingly sorry, and came and told their master all that was done. ³²Then his master called him in and said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. ³³Shouldn't you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, even as I had mercy on you?' ³⁴His master was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors until he should pay all that was due to him. ³⁵So my heavenly Father will also do to you, if you don't each forgive your brother from your hearts for his misdeeds."
