9These you may eat of all that are in the waters: you may eat whatever has fins and scales. 10Don't eat whatever doesn't have fins and scales. It is unclean to you. 11You may eat any clean birds. 12But these are the ones you mustn't eat: the eagle, the vulture, the osprey, 13the red kite, the falcon, [and various] kinds of kite, 14every raven of any kind, 15the ostrich, the owl, the seagull, the hawk of any kind, 16the little owl, the great owl, the horned owl, 17the pelican, the vulture, the cormorant, 18the stork, the heron of any kind, the hoopoe, and the bat. 19All winged creeping things are unclean to you. They mustn't be eaten. 20You may eat any clean birds. 21Don't eat from anything that dies of itself; you may give it to the foreigner living among you who is within your gates, for him to eat; or you may sell it to a foreigner; for you are a holy people to Yahweh your God. Don't boil a young goat in its mother's milk.
22You must surely tithe all the produce of your seed, what comes out of the field year by year. 23Eat the tithe of your grain, your new wine, and your oil, the firstborn of your herd and of your flock before Yahweh your God. [Eat them] in the place that he chooses to cause his name to reside. So you may learn to always fear Yahweh your God. 24If the road is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry it, because the place which Yahweh your God has chosen, to set his name there, is too far [away] from you, when Yahweh your God blesses [you]; 25then turn it into money, bind up the money in your hand, and go to the place which Yahweh your God chooses. 26Trade the money for whatever your soul desires: for cattle, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever your soul asks of you. You and your household eat there before Yahweh your God, and rejoice. 27Don't forsake the Levite who is within your gates, for he has no portion or inheritance with you.

11Because Ephraim has multiplied altars for sinning, they became for him altars for sinning. 12I wrote for him the many things of my law; but they were regarded as a strange thing. 13As for the sacrifices of my offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it; But Yahweh doesn't accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and punish their sins. They will return to Egypt. 14For Israel has forgotten his Maker and built palaces; and Judah has multiplied fortified cities; but I will send a fire on his cities, and it will devour its fortresses."
1Don't rejoice, Israel, to jubilation like the nations; for you were unfaithful to your God. You love the wages of a prostitute at every grain threshing floor. 2The threshing floor and the winepress won't feed them, and the new wine will fail her. 3They won't dwell in Yahweh's land; but Ephraim will return to Egypt, and they will eat unclean food in Assyria. 4They won't pour out wine offerings to Yahweh, nor will they be pleasing to him. Their sacrifices will be to them like the bread of mourners; all who eat of it will be polluted; for their bread will be for their appetite. It will not enter the house of Yahweh. 5What will you do in the day of solemn assembly, and in the day of the feast of Yahweh? 6For, behold, they have gone away from destruction. Egypt will gather them up. Memphis will bury them. Nettles will possess their pleasant things of silver. Thorns will be in their tents. 7The days of visitation have come. The days of reckoning have come. Israel will consider the prophet to be a fool, and the man who is inspired to be insane, because of the abundance of your sins, and because your hostility is great. 8A prophet watches over Ephraim with my God. A fowler's snare is on all of his paths, and hostility in the house of his God. 9They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their iniquity. He will punish them for their sins. 10I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the first ripe in the fig tree at its first season; but they came to Baal Peor, and consecrated themselves to the shameful thing, and became abominable like what they loved. 11As for Ephraim, their glory will fly away like a bird. There will be no birth, no one pregnant, and no conception. 12Though they bring up their children, yet I will bereave them, so that not a man shall be left. Indeed, woe also to them when I depart from them! 13I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre, planted in a pleasant place; but Ephraim will bring out his children to the murderer. 14Give them - Yahweh what will you give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts. 15"All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I hated them. Because of the wickedness of their deeds I will drive them out of my house! I will love them no more. All their princes are rebels. 16Ephraim is struck. Their root has dried up. They will bear no fruit. Even though they produce, yet I will kill the beloved ones of their womb." 17My God will throw them away, because they did not listen to him; and they will be wanderers among the nations.
1Israel is a luxuriant vine that puts forth his fruit. According to the abundance of his fruit he has multiplied his altars. As their land has prospered, they have adorned their sacred stones. 2Their heart is divided. Now they will be found guilty. He will demolish their altars. He will destroy their sacred stones. 3Surely now they will say, "We have no king; for we don't fear Yahweh; and the king, what can he do for us?" 4They make promises, swearing emptily in making covenants. Therefore judgment springs up like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field. 5The inhabitants of Samaria will be in terror for the calves of Beth Aven; for its people will mourn over it, Along with its priests who rejoiced over it, for its glory, because it has departed from it. 6It also will be carried to Assyria as a gift for a great king. Ephraim will receive shame, and Israel will be ashamed of his own counsel. 7Samaria and her king float away, like a twig on the water. 8The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, will be destroyed. The thorn and the thistle will come up on their altars. They will tell the mountains, "Cover us!" and the hills, "Fall on us!"

2A wise man's heart is at his right hand, but a fool's heart at his left. 3Yes also, when the fool walks along the road, his understanding fails him, and he says to everyone that he is a fool. 4If the spirit of the ruler rises up against you, don't leave your place; for gentleness lays great offenses to rest. 5There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, the sort of error which proceeds from the ruler. 6Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in a low place. 7I have seen servants on horses, and princes walking like servants on the earth. 8He who digs a pit may fall into it; and whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a serpent. 9Whoever carves out stones may be injured by them. Whoever splits wood may be endangered by it. 10If the axe is blunt, and one doesn't sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; but skill brings success.
11If the serpent bites before it is charmed, then there is no profit for the charmer. 12The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but a fool is swallowed by his own lips. 13The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness; and the end of his talk is mischievous madness. 14A fool also multiplies words. Man doesn't know what will be; and what will be after him, who can tell him? 15The labor of fools wearies every one of them; for he doesn't know how to go to the city. 16Woe to you, land, when your king is a child, and your princes eat in the morning! 17Happy are you, land, when your king is the son of nobles, and your princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness! 18By slothfulness the roof sinks in; and through idleness of the hands the house leaks. 19A feast is made for laughter, and wine makes the life glad; and money is the answer for all things. 20Don't curse the king, no, not in your thoughts; and don't curse the rich in your bedroom: for a bird of the sky may carry your voice, and what has wings may tell the matter.
1Throw your bread on the waters; for you shall find it after many days. 2Give a portion to seven, yes, even to eight; for you don't know what evil will be on the earth. 3If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth; and if a tree falls toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falls, there shall it be. 4He who observes the wind won't sow; and he who regards the clouds won't reap. 5As you don't know what is the way of the wind, nor how the bones grow in the womb of she who is pregnant; even so you don't know the work of God who does all. 6In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening don't withhold your hand; for you don't know which will prosper, whether this or that, or whether they both will be equally good.

18Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all respect: not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked. 19For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God. 20For what glory is it if, when you fall-short, you patiently endure beating? But if, when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God. 21For you were called to this, because AnointedOne also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps, 22who didn't sin, "neither was deceit found in his mouth." 23When he was cursed, he didn't curse back. When he suffered, he didn't threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously. 24He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds. 25For you were going astray like sheep; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
1In the same way, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any don't obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word, 2seeing your pure behavior in fear. 3Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on fine clothing; 4but in the hidden person of the heart, in the permanent adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 5For this is how in the past, the holy women who hoped in God also adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands. 6as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord, whose children you now are, if you do well, and are not put in fear by any terror.
7You husbands, in the same way, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as also being joint heirs of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.
8Finally, all of you be like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, courteous, 9not rendering evil for evil, or insult for insult; but instead praising, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit praise. 10For, "He who would love life, and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. 11Let him turn away from evil and do good. Let him seek peace and pursue it. 12For the eyes of ForeverOne are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of ForeverOne is against those who do evil."
