Readings for July 24:

First, Leviticus Chapter 20 verses 17 to 27. Follow that by reading from Isaiah Chapter 45 verse 11 to Chapter 46 verse 11. The third part is Psalm 25; and lastly Acts Chapter 20 verses 13 to 32

Leviticus Chapter 20

¹⁷"'If a man takes his sister- his father's daughter, or his mother's daughter- and sees her nakedness, and she sees his nakedness, it is a shameful thing. They shall be cut off in the sight of the children of their people. He has uncovered his sister's nakedness. He shall bear his iniquity.

¹⁸"'If a man lies with a woman having her monthly period, and uncovers her nakedness, he has made her fountain naked, and she has uncovered the fountain of her blood. Both of them shall be cut off from among their people.

¹⁹"'Don't uncover the nakedness of your mother's sister, nor of your father's sister, for he has made his close relative naked. They shall bear their iniquity. ²⁰If a man lies with his uncle's wife, he has uncovered his uncle's nakedness. They shall bear their sin. They shall die childless.

²¹"'If a man haves his brother's wife, it is an impurity. He has uncovered his brother's nakedness. They shall be childless.

²²"'Therefore keep all my statutes and all my ordinances, and do them, so that the land where I am bringing you to live won't vomit you out. ²³Don't walk in the customs of the nation which I am casting out before you; for they did all these things, and therefore I abhorred them. ²⁴But I have said to you, "You will inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess it, a land flowing with milk and honey." I am Yahweh your God, who has separated you from the peoples.

²⁵"'You must therefore make a distinction between the clean animal and the unclean, and between the unclean fowl and the clean. You mustn't make yourselves abominable by animal, or by bird, or by anything with which the ground teems, which I have separated from you as unclean to you. ²⁶Be holy to me, for I, Yahweh, am holy, and have set you apart from other peoples, so that you would be mine.

²⁷"'A man or a woman that is a medium or is a wizard shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones. Their blood shall be upon themselves.'"

Isaiah 45:11-46:11

Isaiah Chapter 45

¹¹Yahweh, the Holy One and Maker of Israel, says, "You ask me about the things that are to come, concerning my sons, and you command me concerning the work of my hands! ¹²I have made the earth, and created man on it. I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens; and I have commanded all their army. ¹³I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will make straight all his ways. He shall build my city, and he shall let my exiles go free, not for price nor reward," says Yahweh of Armies. ¹⁴Yahweh says, "The labor of Egypt, and the merchandise of Ethiopia, and the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over to you, and they shall be yours. They will go after you. They shall come over in chains; and they will bow down to you. They will make supplication to you: 'Surely God is in you; and there is no one else. There is no other god. ¹⁵Most certainly you are a God who hidden yourself, God of Israel, the Savior.'" ¹⁶They will be disappointed, yes, confounded, all of them. Those who are makers of idols will go into confusion together. ¹⁷Israel will be saved by Yahweh with an everlasting salvation. You will not be disappointed nor confounded to ages everlasting. ¹⁸For Yahweh, who created the heavens, the God who formed the earth and made it, who established it and didn't create it a waste, who formed it to be inhabited says, "I am Yahweh; and there is no other. ¹⁹I have not spoken in secret, in a place of the land of darkness. I didn't say to the offspring of Jacob, 'Seek me in vain.' I, Yahweh, speak righteousness. I declare things that are right. ²⁰"Assemble yourselves and come. Draw near together, you who have escaped from the nations. Those have no knowledge who carry the wood of their engraved image, and pray to a god that can't save. ²¹Declare and present it. Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has shown this from ancient time? Who has declared it of old? Haven't I, Yahweh? There is no other God besides me, a just God and a Savior; There is no one besides me. ²²"Look to me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other. ²³I have sworn by myself, the word has gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and will not return, that to me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall take an oath. ²⁴They will say of me, 'There is righteousness and strength only in Yahweh.'" Even to him shall men come; and all those who were incensed against him shall be disappointed. ²⁵In Yahweh shall all the offspring of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

Isaiah Chapter 46

¹Bel bows down, Nebo stoops; their idols are on the animals, and on the livestock: the things that you carried about are made a load, a burden to the weary [animal]. ²They stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves are gone into captivity. ³"Listen to me, house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, that have been borne [by me] from their birth, that have been carried from the womb; ⁴and even to old age I am he, and even to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; yes, I will carry, and will deliver. ⁵"To whom will you liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like? ⁶Some pour out gold from the bag, and weigh silver in the balance. They hire a goldsmith, and he makes it a god. They fall down - yes, they worship. ⁷They bear it on the shoulder, they carry it, and set it in its place, and it stands, from its place it shall not move: yes, one may cry to it, yet it can not answer, nor save him out of his trouble. ⁸"Remember this, and show yourselves men; bring it again to mind, you lawbreakers. ⁹Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is no one else; [I am] God, and there is no one like me; ¹⁰declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not [yet] done; saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure; ¹¹calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country; yes, I have spoken, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed, I will also do it.

¹To you, Yahweh, do I lift up my soul. ²My God, I have trusted in you. Don't let me be shamed. Don't let my enemies triumph over me. ³Yes, no one who waits for you shall be shamed. They shall be shamed who deal treacherously without cause. ⁴Show me your ways, Yahweh. Teach me your paths. ⁵Guide me in your truth, and teach me, For you are the God of my salvation, I wait for you all day long. ⁶Yahweh, remember your tender mercies and your loving kindness, for they are from old times. ⁷Don't remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions. Remember me according to your loving kindness, for your goodness's sake, Yahweh. ⁸Good and upright is Yahweh, therefore he will instruct sinners in the way. ⁹He will guide the humble in justice. He will teach the humble his way. ¹⁰All the paths of Yahweh are loving kindness and truth to those who keep his covenant and his testimonies. ¹¹For your name's sake, Yahweh, pardon my iniquity, for it is great. ¹²What man is he who fears Yahweh? He shall instruct him in the way that he shall choose. ¹³His soul shall dwell at ease. His offspring shall inherit the land. ¹⁴The friendship of Yahweh is with those who fear him. He will show them his covenant. ¹⁵My eyes are ever on Yahweh, for he will pluck my feet out of the net. ¹⁶Turn to me, and have mercy on me, for I am desolate and afflicted. ¹⁷The troubles of my heart are enlarged. Oh bring me out of my distresses. ¹⁸Consider my affliction and my travail. Forgive all my sins. ¹⁹Consider my enemies, for they are many. They hate me with cruel hatred. ²⁰Oh keep my soul, and deliver me. Let me not be disappointed, for I take refuge in you. ²¹Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you. ²²Redeem Israel, God, out all of his troubles.

Acts 20:13-32

Acts Chapter 20

¹³But we, going ahead to the ship, set sail for Assos, intending to take Paul aboard there; for he had so arranged, intending himself to go by land. ¹⁴When he met us at Assos, we took him aboard, and came to Mitylene. ¹⁵Sailing from there, we came the following day opposite Chios. The next day we touched at Samos and stayed at Trogyllium, and the day after we came to Miletus. ¹⁶For Paul had determined to sail past Ephesus, that he might not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hastening, if it were possible for him, to be in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.

¹⁷From Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called to himself the elders of the assembly. ¹⁸When they had come to him, he said to them, "You yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, how I was with you all the time, ¹⁹serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears, and with testing which happened to me by the plots of the Jews; ²⁰how I didn't shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, teaching you publicly and from house to house, ²¹testifying both to Jews and to Gentiles repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus. ²²Now, behold, I go bound by the Spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there; ²³except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions wait for me. ²⁴But these things don't count; nor do I hold my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to fully testify to the Good News of the grace of God.

²⁵"Now, behold, I know that you all, among whom I went about preaching God's Kingdom, will see my face no more. ²⁶So I testify to you today that I am clean from the blood of all men, ²⁷for I didn't shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God. ²⁸Take heed, therefore, to yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the assembly of the Lord and God which he purchased with his own blood. ²⁹For I know that after my departure, vicious wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock. ³⁰Men will arise from among your own selves, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. ³¹So watch, remembering that for a period of three years I didn't cease to admonish everyone night and day with tears. ³²Now, brothers, I entrust you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build up, and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
