Deuteronomy Chapter 12

²⁰When Yahweh your God enlarges your border, as he has promised you, and you say, "I want to eat meat," because your soul desires to eat meat, you may eat meat, as much as your soul desires. ²¹If the place which Yahweh your God chooses to put his name is too far from you, then kill from your herd and from your flock, which Yahweh has given you, as I have commanded you. You may eat within your gates, after all the desire of your soul. ²²Eat it like the gazelle and the deer is eaten. The unclean and the clean alike may eat it. ²³Only be sure that you don't eat the blood; for the blood is the life. Don't eat the life with the flesh. ²⁴Don't eat it. Pour it out on the earth like water. ²⁵Don't eat it. So that it goes well with you and with your children after you, when you do what is right in Yahweh's eyes. ²⁶Only take your holy things which you have, and your vows, and go to the place which Yahweh chooses: ²⁷Offer your burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, on Yahweh your God's altar. Pour out the blood of your sacrifices on Yahweh your God's altar, and eat the flesh. ²⁸Observe and hear all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you and with your children after you forever, when you do what is good and right in Yahweh your God's eyes.

Hosea Chapter 2

Hosea Chapter 3

¹Yahweh said to me, "Go again, love a woman loved by another, and an adulteress, even as Yahweh loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods, and love cakes of raisins."

²So I bought her for myself for fifteen pieces of silver and a homer and a half of barley. ³I said to her, "You shall stay with me many days. You shall not play the prostitute, and you shall not be with any other man. I will also be so toward you."

⁴For the children of Israel shall live many days without king, and without prince, and without sacrifice, and without sacred stone, and without ephod or idols. ⁵Afterward the children of Israel shall return, and seek Yahweh their God, and David their king, and shall come with trembling to Yahweh and to his blessings in the last days.

Hosea Chapter 4

¹Hear the word of Yahweh, you children of Israel; for Yahweh has a charge against the inhabitants of the land: "Indeed there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land. ²There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed. ³Therefore the land will mourn, and everyone who dwells there will waste away. all living things in her, even the animals of the field and the birds of the sky; yes, the fish of the sea also die. ⁴"Yet let no man bring a charge, neither let any man accuse; For your people are like those who bring charges against a priest. ⁵You will stumble in the day, and the prophet will also stumble with you in the night; and I will destroy your mother. ⁶My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you may be no priest to me. Because you have forgotten your God's law, I will also forget your children. ⁷As they were multiplied, so they sinned against me. I will change their glory into shame. ⁸They feed on the sin of my people, and set their heart on their iniquity. ⁹It will be, like people, like priest; and I will punish them for their ways, and will repay them for their deeds. ¹⁰They will eat, and not have enough. They will play the prostitute, and will not increase; because they have abandoned giving to Yahweh. ¹¹Prostitution, wine, and new wine take away understanding.

Ecclesiastes Chapter 7

¹¹Wisdom is as good as an inheritance. Yes, it is more excellent for those who see the sun. ¹²For wisdom is a defense, even as money is a defense; but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it.

¹³Consider the work of God, for who can make that straight, which he has made crooked? ¹⁴In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; yes, God has made the one side by side with the other, to the end that man should not find out anything after him.

¹⁵All this have I seen in my days of vanity: there is a righteous man who perishes in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man who lives long in his evildoing. ¹⁶Don't be overly righteous, neither make yourself overly wise. Why should you destroy yourself? ¹⁷Don't be too wicked, neither be foolish. Why should you die before your time? ¹⁸It is good that you should take hold of this. Yes, also from that don't withdraw your hand; for he who fears God will come forth from them all. ¹⁹Wisdom is a strength to the wise man more than ten rulers who are in a city. ²⁰Surely there is not a righteous man on earth, who does good and doesn't sin. ²¹Also don't take heed to all words that are spoken, lest you hear your servant curse you; ²²for often your own heart knows that you yourself have likewise cursed others. ²³All this have I proved in wisdom. I said, "I will be wise;" but it was far from me. ²⁴What is, is far off and exceedingly deep. Who can find it out? ²⁵I turned around, and my heart sought to know and to search out, and to seek wisdom and the scheme of things, and to know that wickedness is stupidity, and that foolishness is madness.

²⁶I find more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and traps, whose hands are chains. Whoever pleases God shall escape from her; but the sinner will be ensnared by her.

²⁷"Behold, I have found this," says the Preacher, "to one another, to find out the scheme; ²⁸which my soul still seeks; but I have not found. One man among a thousand have I found; but I have not found a woman among all those. ²⁹Behold, this only have I found: that God made man upright; but they search for many schemes."

Ecclesiastes Chapter 8

¹Who is like the wise man? And who knows the interpretation of a thing? A man's wisdom makes his face shine, and the hardness of his face is changed.

James Chapter 5

¹Come now, you-all rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you-all. ²Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten. ³Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be as a testimony against you-all and will eat your flesh like fire. You-all have laid up your treasure in the last days. ⁴Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you-all have kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of ForeverOne of Armies. ⁵You-all have lived in luxury on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You-all have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter. ⁶You-all have condemned and murdered the righteous; who don't resist you-all.

⁷So be patient brothers until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late [rains]. ⁸You-all also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord draws near.

⁹Don't grumble, brothers, against one another, so you-all won't be judged. Look! The judge stands at the door. ¹⁰As an example of suffering and perseverance, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of ForeverOne. ¹¹See, we call them happy who endured. You-all have heard of the perseverance of Job and have seen ForeverOne in the outcome, and how ForeverOne is full of compassion and mercy.

¹²But above all things, my brothers, don't swear-an-oath. Not by heaven, or by the earth, or by any other oath; but let your "yes" be "yes", and your "no", "no", so that you-all don't fall into hypocrisy.

¹³Is anyone among you-all suffering? Let them pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let them sing praises. ¹⁴Is anyone among you-all sick? Let them call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord, ¹⁵and the prayer of faith will heal the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise them up. If they have fallen short, they will be forgiven. ¹⁶So confess your shortcomings to one another and pray for one another, that you-all may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective. ¹⁷Elijah was a human with a nature like ours, and prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it didn't rain on the earth for three years and six months. ¹⁸Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.

¹⁹Brothers, if anyone among you-all wanders from the truth and someone turns them back, ²⁰let them know that whoever turns a shortcomer from the error of their way will save a soul from death and will cover a multitude of shortcomings.
