Exodus Chapter 29

⁴Bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the Tent of Meeting and wash them with water. ⁵Take the garments, and put on Aaron the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod, and the breastplate, and clothe him with the skillfully woven band of the ephod. ⁶Set the turban on his head, and put the holy crown on the turban. ⁷Then take the anointing oil, and pour it on his head, and anoint him. ⁸Bring his sons, and put tunics on them. ⁹Clothe them with belts, Aaron and his sons, and bind headbands on them. The priesthood is theirs by a perpetual statute. Consecrate Aaron and his sons.

¹⁰Bring the bull before the Tent of Meeting; and Aaron and his sons will lay their hands on the head of the bull. ¹¹Kill the bull in Yahweh's presence at the door of the Tent of Meeting. ¹²Take some of the blood of the bull, and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger; and pour out all the blood at the base of the altar. ¹³Take all the fat that covers the innards, the cover of the liver, the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, and burn them on the altar. ¹⁴But burn with fire the flesh of the bull, with its skin and its dung, outside the camp. It is a sin offering.

¹⁵Also take the one ram, and Aaron and his sons are to lay their hands on the head of the ram. ¹⁶Kill the ram and take its blood and sprinkle it around on the altar. ¹⁷Cut the ram into pieces, and wash its innards, and its legs, and put them with its pieces, and its head. ¹⁸Burn the whole ram on the altar: it is a burnt offering to Yahweh; it is a pleasant aroma, an offering made by fire to Yahweh.

1 Kings Chapter 22

²⁹So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead. ³⁰The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but you put on your robes." The king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.

³¹Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.

³²When the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, "Surely that is the king of Israel!" and they turned aside to fight against him. Jehoshaphat cried out. ³³When the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him. ³⁴A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, "Turn your hand, and carry me out of the battle; for I am severely wounded." ³⁵The battle increased that day. The king was propped up in his chariot facing the Syrians, and died at evening. The blood ran out of the wound into the bottom of the chariot. ³⁶A cry went throughout the army about the going down of the sun, saying, "Every man to his city, and every man to his country!"

³⁷So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria. ³⁸They washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood where the prostitutes washed themselves; according to the word of Yahweh which he spoke.

³⁹Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he built, and all the cities that he built, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? ⁴⁰So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his place.

⁴¹Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel. ⁴²Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi. ⁴³He walked in all the way of Asa his father; He didn't turn aside from it, doing what was right in the eyes of Yahweh: however the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burned incense in the high places. ⁴⁴Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.

⁴⁵Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he showed, and how he fought, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? ⁴⁶The remnant of the male cult-prostitutes, that remained in the days of his father Asa, he put away out of the land. ⁴⁷There was no king in Edom: a deputy was king. ⁴⁸Jehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they didn't go; for the ships were broken at Ezion Geber. ⁴⁹Then Ahaziah the son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, "Let my servants go with your servants in the ships." But Jehoshaphat would not. ⁵⁰Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father; Jehoram his son reigned in his place.

⁵¹Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and he reigned two years over Israel. ⁵²He did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, in which he made Israel to sin. ⁵³He served Baal, and worshiped him, and provoked to anger Yahweh, the God of Israel, exactly as his father had done.

Esther Chapter 1

¹Now in the days of Ahasuerus (that is the Ahasuerus who reigned from India to Ethiopia, over one hundred twenty-seven provinces), ²in those days, when King Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Susa the palace, ³in the third year of his reign, he made a feast for all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him. ⁴He displayed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honor of his excellent majesty many days, even one hundred eighty days.

⁵When these days were fulfilled, the king made a seven day feast for all the people who were present in Susa the palace, both great and small, in the court of the garden of the king's palace. ⁶There were hangings of white, green, and blue material, fastened with cords of fine linen and purple to silver rings and marble pillars. The couches were of gold and silver, on a pavement of red, white, yellow, and black marble. ⁷They gave them drinks in golden vessels of various kinds, including royal wine in abundance, according to the bounty of the king. ⁸In accordance with the law, the drinking was not compulsory; for so the king had instructed all the officials of his house, that they should do according to every man's pleasure.

⁹Also Vashti the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which belonged to King Ahasuerus.

¹⁰On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcass, the seven eunuchs who served in the presence of Ahasuerus the king, ¹¹to bring Vashti the queen before the king with the royal crown, to show the people and the princes her beauty; for she was beautiful. ¹²But queen Vashti refused to come at the king's commandment by the eunuchs. Therefore the king was very angry, and his anger burned in him.

¹³Then the king said to the wise men, who knew the times, (for it was the king's custom to consult those who knew law and judgment; ¹⁴and the next to him were Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, who saw the king's face, and sat first in the kingdom), ¹⁵"What shall we do to queen Vashti according to law, because she has not done the bidding of king Ahasuerus by the eunuchs?"

John Chapter 6

¹After these things, Jesus went away to the other side of the sea of Galilee, which is also called the Sea of Tiberias. ²A great multitude followed him, because they saw his signs which he did on those who were sick. ³Jesus went up into the mountain, and he sat there with his disciples. ⁴Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand. ⁵So Jesus, lifting up his eyes and seeing that a great multitude was coming to him, said to Philip, "Where are we to buy bread, that these may eat?" ⁶He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do.

⁷Philip answered him, "Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may receive a little."

⁸One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to him, ⁹"There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these among so many?"

¹⁰Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." Now there was much grass in that place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. ¹¹Jesus took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down; likewise also of the fish as much as they desired. ¹²When they were filled, he said to his disciples, "Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost." ¹³So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten. ¹⁴So when the people saw the sign which Jesus did, they said, "This is truly the prophet who comes into the world." ¹⁵So Jesus, perceiving that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, withdrew again to the mountain by himself.

¹⁶When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea. ¹⁷They entered into the boat, and were going over the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them. ¹⁸The sea was tossed by a great wind blowing. ¹⁹Then, when they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they saw Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing near to the boat; and they were afraid. ²⁰But he said to them, "It is I. Don't be afraid." ²¹They were willing therefore to receive him into the boat. Immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.

²²On the next day, the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except the one in which his disciples had embarked, and that Jesus hadn't entered with his disciples into the boat, but his disciples had gone away alone. ²³However boats from Tiberias came near to the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks. ²⁴Then, when the multitude saw that Jesus wasn't there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
