16They came near to him, and said, "We will build sheepfolds here for our livestock, and cities for our little ones; 17but we ourselves will be ready armed to go before the children of Israel, until we have brought them to their place. Our little ones shall live in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land. 18We will not return to our houses until the children of Israel have all received their inheritance. 19For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan and beyond, because our inheritance has come to us on this side of the Jordan eastward."
20Moses said to them, "If you will do this thing, if you will arm yourselves to go before Yahweh to war, 21and every one of your armed men crosses the Jordan before Yahweh until he has driven out his enemies from before him, 22and the land is subdued before Yahweh; then afterward you may return, and be clear of obligation to Yahweh and to Israel. Then this land will be your possession before Yahweh.
23"But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against Yahweh; and be sure your sin will find you out. 24Build cities for your little ones, and folds for your sheep; and do what has proceeded from your mouth."
25The children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, "Your servants will do as my lord commands. 26Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our livestock shall be there in the cities of Gilead; 27but your servants will pass over, every man who is armed for war, before Yahweh to battle, as my lord says."
28So Moses commanded concerning them to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers' [households] of the tribes of the children of Israel. 29Moses said to them, "If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over the Jordan, every man who is armed to battle before Yahweh, and the land is subdued before you, then give them the land of Gilead for a possession; 30but if they will not pass over with you armed, they'll have possessions among you in the land of Canaan."
31The children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, "As Yahweh has said to your servants, so will we do. 32We will pass over armed before Yahweh into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance [shall remain] with us beyond the Jordan."

30Therefore tell the house of Israel, Thus says LordOfMine Yahweh: Do you pollute yourselves in the way of your fathers? and do you play the prostitute after their abominations? 31and when you offer your gifts, when you make your sons to pass through the fire, do you pollute yourselves with all your idols to this day? and shall I be inquired of by you, house of Israel? As I live, says LordOfMine Yahweh, I will not be inquired of by you;
32and what comes into your mind shall not be at all, in that you say, We will be as the nations, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone. 33As I live, says LordOfMine Yahweh, surely with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out, I will be king over you: 34and I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries in which you are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out; 35and I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face. 36Like as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you, says LordOfMine Yahweh. 37I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant; 38and I will purge out from among you the rebels, and those who disobey against me; I will bring them forth out of the land where they live, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and you shall know that I am Yahweh.
39As for you, house of Israel, thus says LordOfMine Yahweh: Go, serve everyone his idols, and hereafter also, if you will not listen to me; but my holy name you shall no more profane with your gifts, and with your idols. 40For in my holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, says LordOfMine Yahweh, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them, serve me in the land: there I will accept them, and there I will require your offerings, and the first fruits of your offerings, with all your holy things. 41As a pleasant aroma I will accept you, when I bring you out from the peoples, and gather you out of the countries in which you have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you in the sight of the nations. 42You shall know that I am Yahweh, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country which I swore to give to your fathers. 43There you shall remember your ways, and all your actions, in which you have polluted yourselves; and you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that you have committed. 44You shall know that I am Yahweh, when I have dealt with you for my name's sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt actions, you house of Israel, says LordOfMine Yahweh.
45The word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 46Son of man, set your face toward the south, and drop [your word] toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the South; 47and tell the forest of the South, Hear the word of Yahweh: Thus says LordOfMine Yahweh, Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree in you, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned by it. 48All flesh shall see that I, Yahweh, have kindled it; it shall not be quenched.
49Then I said, Ah LordOfMine Yahweh! they say of me, Isn't he a speaker of parables?
1The word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 2Son of man, set your face toward Jerusalem, and drop [your word] toward the sanctuaries, and prophesy against the land of Israel; 3and tell the land of Israel, Thus says Yahweh: Behold, I am against you, and will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked. 4Seeing then that I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north: 5and all flesh shall know that I, Yahweh, have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath; it shall not return any more.
6Sigh therefore, you son of man; with the breaking of your thighs and with bitterness you will sigh before their eyes. 7When they ask you, Why do you sigh? you shall say, Because of the news, for it comes; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it comes, and it shall be done, says LordOfMine Yahweh.

1But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you. 2For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night. 3For when they are saying, "Peace and safety," then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman; and they will in no way escape. 4But you, brothers, aren't in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief. 5You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We don't belong to the night, nor to darkness, 6so then let's not sleep, as the rest do, but let's watch and be sober. 7For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who are drunk are drunk in the night. 8But since we belong to the day, let's be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and selfless-love, and for a helmet, the hope of salvation. 9For God didn't appoint us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus AnointedOne, 10who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11So exhort one another, and build each other up, even as you also do.
12But we beg you, brothers, to know those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you, 13and to respect and honor them in selfless-love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
14We exhort you, brothers: Admonish the disorderly; encourage the faint-hearted; support the weak; be patient toward all. 15See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but pursue all that is good for one another and for all.
16Always rejoice. 17Pray without ceasing. 18In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in AnointedOne Jesus toward you. 19Don't quench the Spirit. 20Don't despise prophecies; 21test all things, and hold firmly what is good. 22Abstain from every form of evil.
23May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus AnointedOne.
24He who calls you is faithful, who will also do it.
25Brothers, pray for us.
26Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss. 27I solemnly command you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the holy brothers.
28The grace of our Lord Jesus AnointedOne be with you. [*Absolutely].
