Numbers Chapter 4

¹⁷Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, ¹⁸"Don't cut off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites; ¹⁹but do this for them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach the most holy things: Aaron and his sons are to go in and appoint everyone to his service and to his burden; ²⁰But they must not go in to see the sanctuary. [Not] even for a moment. Otherwise they must die."

²¹Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ²²"Take a census of the sons of Gershon as well, by their fathers' houses, by their families; ²³count them from thirty years old to fifty years old: all who enter the army of service, to do the work in the Tent of Meeting.

²⁴"This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, serving and carrying: ²⁵they are to carry the curtains of the tabernacle and the Tent of Meeting, its covering, the covering of sealskin that is on it, the screen for the door of the Tent of Meeting, ²⁶the hangings of the court, the screen for the door of the gate of the court which is by the tabernacle and around the altar, their cords, and all the instruments of their service, and whatever is to be be done with them. [That's how] they'll serve. ²⁷All the service of the sons of the Gershonites will be at Aaron and his sons' word. All they carry and all they do. Assign their duties to them in all their responsibilities. ²⁸This is the service of the families of the sons of the Gershonites in the Tent of Meeting. Their duty will be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.

²⁹"As for the sons of Merari, count them by their families, by their fathers' houses; ³⁰count them from thirty years old to fifty years old- everyone who enters the service, to do the work of the Tent of Meeting. ³¹[This is what they are] charged with carrying, [as] all their service in the Tent of Meeting: the tabernacle's boards, its bars, its pillars, its sockets, ³²the pillars of the court around it, their sockets, their pins, their cords, with all their instruments, and with all their service. List by name the instruments they are to carry. ³³This is the service of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their service in the Tent of Meeting, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest."

Jeremiah Chapter 12

¹⁴Yahweh says, "Concerning all my evil neighbors, who touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit: behold, I will pluck them up from off their land, and will pluck up the house of Judah from among them. ¹⁵After I have plucked them up, I will return and have compassion on them; and I will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land. ¹⁶If they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, As Yahweh lives; even as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built up in the midst of my people. ¹⁷But if they will not hear, then I will pluck up that nation, plucking up and destroying it, says Yahweh.

Jeremiah Chapter 13

¹Yahweh said to me, "Go, and buy yourself a linen belt, and put it on your waist, and don't put it in water."

²So I bought a belt according to the word of Yahweh, and put it on my waist.

³The word of Yahweh came to me the second time, saying, ⁴Take the belt that you have bought, which is on your waist, and arise, go to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock.

⁵So I went, and hid it by the Euphrates, as Yahweh commanded me.

⁶After many days Yahweh said to me, Arise, go to the Euphrates, and take the belt from there, which I commanded you to hide there.

⁷Then I went to the Euphrates, and dug, and took the belt from the place where I had hidden it; and behold, the belt was marred, it was profitable for nothing.

⁸Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, ⁹"Yahweh says, 'In this way I will mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem. ¹⁰This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who walk in the stubbornness of their heart, and are gone after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this belt, which is profitable for nothing. ¹¹For as the belt clings to the waist of a man, so have I caused to cling to me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, says Yahweh; that they may be to me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

¹²Therefore you shall speak to them this word: 'Yahweh the God of Israel says, "Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall tell you, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine? ¹³Then you shall tell them, 'Yahweh says, "Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings who sit on David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness. ¹⁴I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, says Yahweh: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have compassion, that I should not destroy them. ¹⁵Hear, and give ear; don't be proud; for Yahweh has spoken. ¹⁶Give glory to Yahweh your God, before he causes darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and, while you look for light, he turns it into the death-shadow, and makes it gross darkness. ¹⁷But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for [your] pride; and my eye shall weep bitterly, and run down with tears, because Yahweh's flock is taken captive. ¹⁸Say to the king and to the queen mother, Humble yourselves, sit down; for your headdresses have come down, even the crown of your glory. ¹⁹The cities of the South are shut up, and there is no one to open them: Judah is carried away captive, all of it; it is wholly carried away captive. ²⁰Lift up your eyes, and see those who come from the north: where is the flock that was given you, your beautiful flock? ²¹What will you say, when he shall set over you as head those whom you have yourself taught to be friends to you? shall not sorrows take hold of you, as of a woman in travail? ²²If you say in your heart, Why are these things come on me? for the greatness of your iniquity are your skirts uncovered, and your heels suffer violence. ²³Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may you also do good, who are accustomed to do evil.

Psalm 68

¹Let God arise!
Let his enemies be scattered!
Let them who hate him also flee before him.
²As smoke is driven away,
so drive them away.
As wax melts before the fire,
so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
³But let the righteous be glad.
Let them rejoice before God.
Yes, let them rejoice with gladness.
⁴Sing to God! Sing praises to his name!
Extol him who rides on the clouds:
to Yah, his name!
Rejoice before him!
⁵A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows,
is God in his holy habitation.
⁶God sets the lonely in families.
He brings out the prisoners with singing,
but the rebellious dwell in a sun-scorched land.
⁷God, when you went out before your people,
when you marched through the wilderness...

⁸The earth trembled.
The sky also poured down rain at the presence of the God of Sinai-
at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
⁹You, God, sent a plentiful rain.
You confirmed your inheritance when it was weary.
¹⁰Your congregation lived there.
You, God, prepared your goodness for the poor.
¹¹LordOfMine announced the word.
The ones who proclaim it are a great company.
¹²"Kings of armies flee! They flee!"
She who waits at home divides the plunder,
¹³while you sleep among the camp fires,
the wings of a dove sheathed with silver,
her feathers with shining gold.
¹⁴When the Almighty scattered kings in her,
it snowed on Zalmon.
¹⁵The mountains of Bashan are majestic mountains.
The mountains of Bashan are rugged.
¹⁶Why do you look in envy, you rugged mountains,
at the mountain where God chooses to reign?
Yes, Yahweh will dwell there forever.
¹⁷The chariots of God are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands.
LordOfMine is among them, from Sinai, into the sanctuary.
¹⁸You have ascended on high.
You have led away captives.
You have received gifts among men,
yes, among the rebellious also, that Yah God might dwell there.
¹⁹Blessed be LordOfMine, who daily bears our burdens,
even the God who is our salvation.

²⁰God is to us a God of deliverance.
To Yahweh, LordOfMine, belongs escape from death.
²¹But God will strike through the head of his enemies,
the hairy scalp of such a one as still continues in his guiltiness.
²²LordOfMine said, "I will bring you again from Bashan,
I will bring you again from the depths of the sea,
²³that you may crush them, dipping your foot in blood,
that the tongues of your dogs may have their portion from your enemies."
²⁴They have seen your processions, God,
even the processions of my God, my King, into the sanctuary.
²⁵The singers went before, the minstrels followed after,
among the ladies playing with tambourines,
²⁶"Bless God in the congregations,
even LordOfMine in the assembly of Israel!"
²⁷There is little Benjamin, their ruler,
the princes of Judah, their council,
the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.
²⁸Your God has commanded your strength.
Strengthen, God, what you have done for us.
²⁹Because of your temple at Jerusalem,
kings shall bring presents to you.
³⁰Rebuke the wild animal of the reeds,
the multitude of the bulls with the calves of the peoples.
Trample under foot the bars of silver.
Scatter the nations who delight in war.
³¹Princes shall come out of Egypt.
Ethiopia shall hurry to stretch out her hands to God.
³²Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth!
Sing praises to LordOfMine!

³³To him who rides on the heaven of heavens, which are of old;
behold, he utters his voice, a mighty voice.
³⁴Ascribe strength to God!
His excellency is over Israel,
his strength is in the skies.
³⁵You are awesome, God, in your sanctuaries.
The God of Israel gives strength and power to his people.
Praise be to God!

Romans Chapter 10

¹⁶But they didn't all listen to the good-news. For Isaiah says, "ForeverOne, who has believed our report?" ¹⁷So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. ¹⁸But I say, didn't they hear? Yes, most certainly,
"Their sound went out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world."

¹⁹But I ask, didn't Israel know? First Moses says,
"I will provoke you-all to jealousy of what is no nation.
I will make you-all angry with a nation void of understanding."

²⁰Isaiah is very bold and says,
"I was found by those who didn't seek me.
I was revealed to those who didn't ask for me."

²¹But about Israel he says, "All day long I stretched out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people."

Romans Chapter 11

¹I ask then, did God reject his people? Not at all! For I also am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. ²God didn't reject his people, whom he foreknew. Or don't you-all know what the Scripture says about Elijah? How he pleads with God against Israel: ³"ForeverOne, they have killed your prophets. They have broken down your altars. I am left alone, and they seek my life." ⁴But how does God answer him? "I have reserved for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal." ⁵Even so too at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. ⁶And if by grace, then it is no longer of actions; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of actions, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

⁷What then? What Israel seeks for, that he didn't obtain, but the chosen ones obtained it, and the rest were hardened. ⁸According as it is written, "God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, to this very day."

⁹David says,
"Let their table be made a snare, a trap,
a stumbling block, and a retribution to them.
¹⁰Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see.
Always keep their backs bent."

¹¹I ask then, did they stumble that they might fall? Not at all! But by their fall salvation has come to the Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy. ¹²Now if their fall is the riches of the world, and their loss the riches of the Gentiles, how much more their fullness!

¹³For I speak to you-all who are Gentiles. Since I am an ambassador to Gentiles, I glorify my ministry, ¹⁴if by any means I may provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh, and may save some of them. ¹⁵For if the rejection of them is the reconciling of the world, what would their acceptance be, but life from the dead?
