17"'Don't uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter. Don't take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness. They are near kinswomen. It is wickedness.
18"'Don't have a wife in addition to her sister, to be a rival, to uncover her nakedness, while her sister is still alive.
19"'Don't approach a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is impure by her uncleanness.
20"'Don't lie sexually with your neighbor's wife, and defile yourself with her.
21"'Don't give any of your children as a sacrifice to Molech. Don't profane the name of your God. I am Yahweh.
22"'Don't lie with a man as with a woman. That is detestable.
23"'Don't lie with any animal to defile yourself with it. No woman may give herself to an animal, to lie down with it: it is a perversion.
24"'Don't defile yourselves in any of these things; for in all these the nations which I am casting out before you were defiled. 25The land was defiled. Therefore I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out her inhabitants. 26You therefore shall keep my statutes and my ordinances, and shall not do any of these abominations; neither the native-born, nor the stranger who lives as a foreigner among you 27for the men of the land that were before you did all these abominations, and the land became defiled, 28that the land not vomit you out also, when you defile it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.
29"'For whoever shall do any of these abominations, even the souls that do them shall be cut off from among their people. 30Therefore keep my requirements, that you do not practice any of these abominable customs which were practiced before you, and that you do not defile yourselves with them. I am Yahweh your God.'"

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David.
1The heavens declare the glory of God.
The expanse shows his handiwork.
2Day after day they pour out speech,
and night after night they display knowledge.
3There is no speech nor language
where their voice is not heard.
4Their voice has gone out through all the earth,
their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
5which is as a bridegroom coming out of his room,
like a strong man rejoicing to run his course.
6His going out is from the end of the heavens,
his circuit to its ends.
There is nothing hidden from its heat. 7Yahweh's law is perfect, restoring the soul.
Yahweh's testimony is sure, making wise the simple.
8Yahweh's precepts are right, rejoicing the heart.
Yahweh's commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9The fear of Yahweh is clean, enduring forever.
Yahweh's ordinances are true, and righteous altogether.
10They are more to be desired than gold, yes, than much fine gold,
sweeter also than honey and the extract of the honeycomb.
11Moreover your servant is warned by them.
In keeping them there is great reward.
12Who can discern his errors?
Forgive me from hidden errors. 13Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins.
Don't let them rule me.
Then I will be upright.
I will be blameless and innocent of great transgression.
14Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
Yahweh, my rock, and my redeemer.

7He departed there, and went into the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue. 8Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house. Many of the Corinthians, when they heard, believed and were baptized. 9The Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, "Don't be afraid, but speak and don't be silent; 10for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many people in this city."
11He lived there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. 12But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat, 13saying, "This man persuades men to worship God contrary to the law."
14But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, "If indeed it were a matter of wrong or of wicked crime, you Jews, it would be reasonable that I should bear with you; 15but if they are questions about words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves. For I don't want to be a judge of these matters." 16So he drove them from the judgment seat.
17Then all [*the Greeks] seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. Gallio didn't care about any of these things.
18Paul, having stayed after this many more days, took his leave of the brothers, and sailed from there for Syria, together with Priscilla and Aquila. He shaved his head in Cenchreae, for he had a vow. 19He came to Ephesus, and he left them there; but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews. 20When they asked him to stay with them a longer time, he declined; 21but taking his leave of them, he said, "I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem, but I will return again to you if God wills." Then he set sail from Ephesus.
22When he had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the assembly, and went down to Antioch. 23Having spent some time there, he departed, and went through the region of Galatia, and Phrygia, in order, establishing all the disciples. 24Now a certain Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by race, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus. He was mighty in the Scriptures. 25This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, although he knew only the baptism of John. 26He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside, and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
