Numbers Chapter 16

⁴When Moses heard it, he fell on his face. ⁵He spoke to Korah and to all his group, saying, "In the morning, Yahweh will show who are his, and who is holy, and will cause them to come near to him. He will cause the one he chooses to come near to him. ⁶Do this: have Korah and all his group take censers, ⁷put fire in them, and put incense on them before Yahweh tomorrow. It shall be that the man whom Yahweh chooses, he shall be holy. You have gone too far, you sons of Levi!"

⁸Moses said to Korah, "Hear now, you sons of Levi! ⁹Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of Yahweh's tabernacle, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them; ¹⁰and that he has brought you near, and all your brothers the sons of Levi with you? Do you seek the priesthood also? ¹¹So, you and all your group have gathered together against Yahweh! Who is Aaron that you murmur against him?"

¹²Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab; and they said, "We won't come up! ¹³Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but you must also make yourself a prince over us? ¹⁴In addition you haven't brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We won't come up."

¹⁵Moses was very angry, and said to Yahweh, "Don't respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, neither have I hurt one of them."

¹⁶Moses said to Korah, "You and all your group go before Yahweh, you, and they, and Aaron, tomorrow. ¹⁷[Let] each man take his censer and put incense in it, and each man bring his censer before Yahweh, two hundred fifty censers; both you and Aaron, each [with] his censer."

Jeremiah Chapter 39

¹In the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem, and besieged it. ²In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, a breach was made in the city. ³All the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate: Nergal Sharezer, Samgarnebo, Sarsechim the Rabsaris, Nergal Sharezer the Rabmag, with all the rest of the princes of the king of Babylon. ⁴When Zedekiah the king of Judah and all the men of war saw them, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, along the road of the king's garden, through the gate between the two walls; and he went out toward the Arabah.

⁵But the army of the Chaldeans pursued them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; and he gave judgment on him. ⁶Then the king of Babylon killed Zedekiah's sons in Riblah before his eyes. The king of Babylon also killed all the nobles of Judah. ⁷Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.

⁸The Chaldeans burned the king's house and the people's houses with fire and broke down the walls of Jerusalem. ⁹Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Babylon the rest of the people who remained in the city, the deserters also who fell away to him, and the rest of the people who remained. ¹⁰But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, who had nothing, in the land of Judah, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

¹¹Now Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon commanded Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard concerning Jeremiah, saying, ¹²"Take him and take care of him. Do him no harm; but do to him even as he tells you."

¹³So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, Nebushazban, Rabsaris, and Nergal Sharezer, Rabmag, and all the chief officers of the king of Babylon ¹⁴sent and took Jeremiah out of the court of the guard, and committed him to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, that he should bring him home. So he lived among the people.

¹⁵Now Yahweh's word came to Jeremiah while he was shut up in the court of the guard, saying, ¹⁶Go, and speak to Ebedmelech the Ethiopian, saying, Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says, "Behold, I will bring my words on this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished before you in that day. ¹⁷But I will deliver you in that day, says Yahweh; and you shall not be given into the hand of the men of whom you are afraid. ¹⁸For I will surely save you, and you shall not fall by the sword, but your life shall be for a prey to you; because you have put your trust in me, says Yahweh.

Psalm 105

¹Give thanks to Yahweh! Call on his name! Make his actions known among the peoples. ²Sing to him, sing praises to him! Tell of all his marvelous works. ³Glory in his holy name. Let the heart of those who seek Yahweh rejoice. ⁴Seek Yahweh and his strength. Seek his face forever more. ⁵Remember his marvelous works that he has done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth, ⁶you offspring of Abraham, his servant, you children of Jacob, his chosen ones. ⁷He is Yahweh, our God. His judgments are in all the earth. ⁸He has remembered his covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations, ⁹the covenant which he made with Abraham, his oath to Isaac, ¹⁰and confirmed it to Jacob for a statute; to Israel for an everlasting covenant, ¹¹saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance;" ¹²when they were but a few men in number, yes, very few, and foreigners in it. ¹³They went about from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people. ¹⁴He allowed no one to do them wrong. Yes, he reproved kings for their sakes, ¹⁵"Don't touch my anointed! Do my prophets no harm!" ¹⁶He called for a famine on the land. He destroyed the food supplies. ¹⁷He sent a man before them. Joseph was sold for a slave. ¹⁸They bruised his feet with shackles. His neck was locked in irons, ¹⁹until the time that his word happened, and Yahweh's word proved him true. ²⁰The king sent and freed him; even the ruler of peoples, and let him go free. ²¹He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all of his possessions; ²²to discipline his princes at his pleasure, and to teach his elders wisdom. ²³Israel also came into Egypt. Jacob lived in the land of Ham. ²⁴He increased his people greatly, and made them stronger than their adversaries. ²⁵He turned their heart to hate his people, to conspire against his servants. ²⁶He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen. ²⁷They performed miracles among them, and wonders in the land of Ham. ²⁸He sent darkness, and made it dark. They didn't rebel against his words. ²⁹He turned their waters into blood, and killed their fish. ³⁰Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the rooms of their kings. ³¹He spoke, and swarms of flies came, and lice in all their borders. ³²He gave them hail for rain, with lightning in their land. ³³He struck their vines and also their fig trees, and shattered the trees of their country. ³⁴He spoke, and the locusts came, and the grasshoppers, without number, ³⁵ate up every plant in their land; and ate up the fruit of their ground. ³⁶He struck also all the firstborn in their land, the first fruits of all their manhood. ³⁷He brought them forth with silver and gold. There was not one feeble person among his tribes. ³⁸Egypt was glad when they departed, for the fear of them had fallen on them. ³⁹He spread a cloud for a covering, fire to give light in the night. ⁴⁰They asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of the sky. ⁴¹He opened the rock, and waters gushed out. They ran as a river in the dry places. ⁴²For he remembered his holy word, and Abraham, his servant. ⁴³He brought out his people with joy, his chosen with singing. ⁴⁴He gave them the lands of the nations. They took the labor of the peoples in possession, ⁴⁵that they might keep his statutes, and observe his laws. Praise Yah!

2 Corinthians Chapter 1

²³But I call God for a witness to my soul, that I didn't come to Corinth to spare you. ²⁴Not that we dominate your faith, but are fellow workers with you for your joy. For you stand firm in faith.

2 Corinthians Chapter 2

¹But I determined this for myself, that I would not come to you again in sorrow. ²For if I make you grieve, then who will make me glad but he who is made to grieve by me? ³And I wrote this very thing to you, so that, when I came, I wouldn't have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy would be shared by all of you. ⁴For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears, not that you should be made to grieve, but that you might know the selfless-love that I have so abundantly for you.

⁵But if any has caused sorrow, he has caused sorrow, not to me, but in part (that I not press too heavily) to you all. ⁶This punishment which was inflicted by the many is sufficient for such a one; ⁷so that on the contrary you should rather forgive him and comfort him, lest by any means such a one should be swallowed up with his excessive sorrow. ⁸So I beg you to confirm your selfless-love toward him. ⁹For to this end I also wrote, that I might know the proof of you, whether you are obedient in all things. ¹⁰Now I also forgive whomever you forgive anything. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of AnointedOne, ¹¹that no advantage may be gained over us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes.

¹²Now when I came to Troas for the Good News of AnointedOne, and when a door was opened to me in the Lord, ¹³I had no relief for my spirit, because I didn't find Titus, my brother, but taking my leave of them, I went out into Macedonia.

¹⁴Now thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in AnointedOne, and reveals through us the sweet aroma of his knowledge in every place. ¹⁵For we are a sweet aroma of AnointedOne to God, in those who are saved and in those who perish: ¹⁶to the one a stench from death to death, to the other a sweet aroma from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? ¹⁷For we are not as so many, peddling the word of God. But as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God, we speak in AnointedOne.
