Section 1

Numbers 3:11-26

16 verses

Numbers Chapter 3

11Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 12"See, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of all the firstborn who open the womb among the children of Israel. The Levites [will be mine], 13because all the firstborn are mine. On the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I made all the firstborn in Israel, both man and animal holy to myself. They are mine. I am Yahweh."

14Yahweh spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying, 15"Count the children of Levi by their fathers' houses, by their families. Count every male from a month old and older."

16Moses counted them according to Yahweh's word, as he was commanded.

17These were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

18These are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families: Libni and Shimei.

19The sons of Kohath by their families were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

20The sons of Merari by their families were Mahli and Mushi.

These are the families of the Levites according to their fathers' houses.

21The family of the Libnites and the family of the Shimeites [came from] Gershon. These are the families of the Gershonites.

22Listed as the number of all the males from a month old and older, seven thousand five hundred were counted.

23The families of the Gershonites are to camp behind the tabernacle on the west.

24Eliasaph the son of Lael will be the prince of the fathers' house of the Gershonites. 25The responsibility of the sons of Gershon in the Tent of Meeting will be the tabernacle, the tent, its covering, the screen for the door of the Tent of Meeting, 26the hangings of the court, the screen for the door of the court which is by the tabernacle and around the altar, and its cords for all of its service.

Section 2

Jeremiah 8:8-9:11

26 verses

Jeremiah Chapter 8

8How do you say, We are wise, and the law of Yahweh is with us? But, behold, the false pen of the scribes has worked falsely. 9The wise men are disappointed, they are dismayed and taken: behold, they have rejected the word of Yahweh; and what kind of wisdom is in them? 10Therefore I will give their wives to others, and their fields to those who shall possess them: for everyone from the least to the greatest is given to covetousness; from the prophet even to the priest every one deals falsely. 11They have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. 12Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among those who fall; in the time of their visitation they shall be thrown down, says Yahweh. 13I will utterly consume them, says Yahweh: no grapes shall be on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and [the things that] I have given them shall pass away from them. 14Why do we sit still? Assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fortified cities, and let us be silent there; for Yahweh our God has put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against Yahweh. 15We looked for peace, but no good came; [and] for a time of healing, and behold, dismay! 16The snorting of his horses is heard from Dan: at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones the whole land trembles; for they have come and devoured the land and all that is in it; the city and those who dwell there. 17For, behold, I will send serpents, adders, among you, which will not be charmed; and they shall bite you, says Yahweh. 18Oh that I could comfort myself against sorrow! My heart is faint within me. 19Behold, the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people from a land that is very far off: isn't Yahweh in Zion? Isn't her King in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their engraved images, and with foreign vanities? 20The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. 21For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt: I mourn; dismay has taken hold on me. 22Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? Then why isn't the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

Jeremiah Chapter 9

1Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a spring of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slaughtered of the daughter of my people! 2Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men. 3They bend their tongue, [as it were] their bow, for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but not for truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they don't know me, says Yahweh. 4Take heed everyone of his neighbor, and don't trust in any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go about with slanders. 5They will deceive everyone his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves to commit iniquity. 6Your habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, says Yahweh.

7Therefore Yahweh of Armies says, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for what [else] should I do, because of the daughter of my people? 8Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceit: one speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he lays wait for him. 9Shall I not visit them for these things? says Yahweh; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? 10For the mountains I will take up a weeping and wailing, and for the pastures of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none passes through; neither can men hear the voice of the livestock; both the birds of the sky and the animals are fled, they are gone. 11I will make Jerusalem heaps, a dwelling place of jackals; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.

Section 3

Psalm 60-61

22 verses

Psalm 60

For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "The Lily of the Covenant." A teaching poem by David, when he fought with Aram Naharaim and with Aram Zobah, and Joab returned, and killed twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt.

1God, you have rejected us.
You have broken us down.
You have been angry.
Restore us, again.
2You have made the land tremble.
You have torn it.
Mend its fractures,
for it quakes.
3You have shown your people hard things.
You have made us drink the wine that makes us stagger.
4You have given a banner to those who fear you,
that it may be displayed because of the truth.

selah.

5So that your beloved may be delivered,
save with your right hand, and answer us.
6God has spoken from his sanctuary:
"I will triumph.
I will divide Shechem,
and measure out the valley of Succoth.
7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine.
Ephraim also is the defense of my head.
Judah is my scepter.
8Moab is my wash basin.
I will throw my sandal on Edom.
I shout in triumph over Philistia."
9Who will bring me into the strong city?
Who has led me to Edom?
10Haven't you, God, rejected us?
You don't go out with our armies, God.
11Give us help against the adversary,
for the help of man is empty.
12Through God we shall do valiantly,
for it is he who will tread down our adversaries.

Psalm 61

For the Chief Musician. For a stringed instrument. By David.

1Hear my cry, God.
Listen to my prayer.
2From the end of the earth, I will call to you when my heart is overwhelmed.
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3For you have been a refuge for me,
a strong tower from the enemy.
4I will dwell in your tent forever.
I will take refuge in the shelter of your wings.

selah.

5For you, God, have heard my vows.
You have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.
6You will prolong the king's life.
His years will be for generations.
7He shall be enthroned in God's presence forever.
Appoint your loving kindness and truth, that they may preserve him.
8So I will sing praise to your name forever,
that I may fulfill my vows daily.

Section 4

Romans 8:1-25

25 verses

Romans Chapter 8

1So [there is] now no condemnation for those who are in AnointedOne Jesus, [*who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.] 2For the law of the Spirit of life in AnointedOne Jesus freed us from the law of shortcoming and death. 3For what the law couldn't do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, by sending his own Son with the very likeness of shortcoming flesh [as an offering for] shortcoming he condemned shortcoming in the flesh, 4that the righteous-requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 5For those who live in accordance with the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live in accordance with the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace; 7because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God, for it is not subject to God's law, nor indeed can it be. 8Those who are in the flesh can't please God.

9But you-all are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you-all. But if anyone doesn't have the Spirit of AnointedOne, he is not his. 10If AnointedOne is in you-all, the body is dead because of shortcoming, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11But if the Spirit [that] raised Jesus from the dead lives in you-all, he who raised AnointedOne [*Jesus] from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you-all.

12So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13For if you-all live according to the flesh, you-all must die; but if by the Spirit you-all put to death the deeds of the body, you-all will live. 14For those led by the Spirit of God, are sons of God. 15For you-all didn't receive the spirit of slavery again to fear, but you-all received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, "Daddy! Father!"

16The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God; 17and if children, then heirs- heirs of God and joint heirs with AnointedOne, if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.

18For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us. 19For creation earnestly-waits, eagerly-expecting the sons of God to be revealed. 20For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21that the creation itself also will be delivered from the slavery of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. 22For we know that all creation groans-together and strains-together-in-birthing until now. 23Not only creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan within, eagerly-expecting our adoption, the redemption of our body. 24For we were saved in hope. But hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what they [already] see? 25But if we hope for what we don't [yet] see, we eagerly-expect it with patience.
