Section 1

Numbers 2:25-3:10

20 verses

Numbers Chapter 2

25"The standard of the camp of Dan according to their divisions will be on the north side. The prince of the children of Dan will be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai. 26His division as listed were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

27"The tribe of Asher are to camp next to him. The prince of the children of Asher will be Pagiel the son of Ochran. 28His division as listed were forty-one thousand five hundred.

29"The tribe of Naphtali: the prince of the children of Naphtali will be Ahira the son of Enan. 30His division as listed were fifty-three thousand four hundred.

31"All who were counted of the camp of Dan were one hundred fifty-seven thousand six hundred. They'll set out last by their standards."

32These are the ones who were counted of the children of Israel by their fathers' houses. All who were counted of the camps according to their armies were six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty. 33But the Levites were not counted among the children of Israel, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

34The children of Israel did this. They camped by their standards, and set out, everyone by their families, according to their fathers' houses, exactly as Yahweh commanded Moses.

Numbers Chapter 3

1Now these are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that Yahweh spoke with Moses in Mount Sinai. 2These are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

3These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the priests who were anointed, whom he consecrated to minister in the priest's office. 4Nadab and Abihu died before Yahweh when they offered strange fire before Yahweh in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children. Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest's office in the presence of Aaron their father.

5Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 6"Bring the tribe of Levi near, and have them stand in front of Aaron the priest, that they may minister to him. 7They are to keep his requirements, and the requirements of the whole congregation in front of the Tent of Meeting, to do the service of the tabernacle. 8They are to keep all the furnishings of the Tent of Meeting, and the obligations of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle. 9Give the Levites to Aaron and his sons. They are wholly given to him on the behalf of the children of Israel. 10Appoint Aaron and his sons and have them guard their priesthood. Any stranger who comes near must be put to death."

Jeremiah 7:17-8:7

25 verses

Jeremiah Chapter 7

17Don't you see what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 18The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead the dough, to make cakes to the queen of the sky, and to pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. 19Do they provoke me to anger? says Yahweh; [do they] not [provoke] themselves, to the confusion of their own faces?

20Therefore LordOfMine Yahweh says, "Behold, my anger and my wrath shall be poured out on this place, on man, and on animal, and on the trees of the field, and on the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched."

21Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says, "Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices, and eat meat. 22For I didn't speak to your fathers, nor command them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: 23but this thing I commanded them, saying, Listen to my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people; and walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you. 24But they didn't listen nor turn their ear, but walked in [their own] counsels [and] in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward. 25Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt to this day, I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them: 26yet they didn't listen to me, nor inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff: they did worse than their fathers.

27You shall speak all these words to them; but they will not listen to you: you shall also call to them; but they will not answer you. 28You shall tell them, This is the nation that has not listened to the voice of Yahweh their God, nor received instruction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth. 29Cut off your hair, [Jerusalem], and throw it away, and take up a lamentation on the bare heights; for Yahweh has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.

30For the children of Judah have done what is evil in my sight, says Yahweh: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to defile it. 31They have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I didn't command, nor did it enter my mind. 32Therefore, behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that it shall no more be called Topheth, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of Slaughter: for they shall bury in Topheth, until there be no place [to bury]. 33The dead bodies of this people shall be food for the birds of the sky, and for the animals of the earth; and none shall frighten them away. 34Then I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; for the land shall become a waste.

Jeremiah Chapter 8

1At that time, says Yahweh, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves; 2and they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the army of the sky, which they have loved, and which they have served, and after which they have walked, and which they have sought, and which they have worshiped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried, they shall be for dung on the surface of the earth. 3Death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue that remain of this evil family, that remain in all the places where I have driven them, says Yahweh of Armies. 4"Moreover you shall tell them, Yahweh says, 'Shall men fall, and not rise up again? Shall one turn away, and not return? 5Then why is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return. 6I listened and heard, but they didn't speak aright: no man repents him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? everyone turns to his course, as a horse that rushes headlong in the battle. 7Yes, the stork in the sky knows her appointed times; and the turtledove and the swallow and the crane observe the time of their coming; but my people don't know Yahweh's law.

Section 3

Psalm 58-59

30 verses

Psalm 58

For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "Do Not Destroy." A poem by David.

1Do you indeed speak righteousness, silent ones? Do you judge blamelessly, you sons of men? 2No, in your heart you plot injustice. You measure out the violence of your hands in the earth. 3The wicked go astray from the womb. They are wayward as soon as they are born, speaking lies. 4Their poison is like the poison of a serpent; like a deaf cobra that stops its ear, 5which doesn't listen to the voice of charmers, no matter how skillful the charmer may be. 6Break their teeth, God, in their mouth. Break out the great teeth of the young lions, Yahweh. 7Let them vanish as water that flows away. When they draw the bow, let their arrows be made blunt. 8Let them be like a snail which melts and passes away, like the stillborn child, who has not seen the sun. 9Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns, he will sweep away the green and the burning alike. 10The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance. He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked; 11so that men shall say, "Most certainly there is a reward for the righteous. Most certainly there is a God who judges the earth."

Psalm 59

For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "Do Not Destroy." A poem by David, when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him.

1Deliver me from my enemies, my God. Set me on high from those who rise up against me. 2Deliver me from the workers of iniquity. Save me from the bloodthirsty men. 3For, behold, they lie in wait for my soul. The mighty gather themselves together against me, not for my disobedience, nor for my sin, Yahweh. 4I have done no wrong, yet they are ready to attack me. Rise up, behold, and help me! 5You, Yahweh God of Armies, the God of Israel, rouse yourself to punish the nations. Show no mercy to the wicked traitors.

selah.

6They return at evening, howling like dogs, and prowl around the city. 7Behold, they spew with their mouth. Swords are in their lips, "For," they say, "who hears us?" 8But you, Yahweh, laugh at them. You scoff at all the nations. 9Oh, my Strength, I watch for you, for God is my high tower. 10My God will go before me with his loving kindness. God will let me look at my enemies in triumph. 11Don't kill them, or my people may forget. Scatter them by your power, and bring them down, LordOfMine our shield. 12For the sin of their mouth, and the words of their lips, let them be caught in their pride, for the curses and lies which they utter. 13Consume them in wrath. Consume them, and they will be no more. Let them know that God rules in Jacob, to the ends of the earth.

selah.

14At evening let them return. Let them howl like a dog, and go around the city. 15They shall wander up and down for food, and wait all night if they aren't satisfied. 16But I will sing of your strength. Yes, I will sing aloud of your loving kindness in the morning. For you have been my high tower, a refuge in the day of my distress. 17To you, my strength, I will sing praises. For God is my high tower, the God of my mercy.

Section 4

Romans 7

25 verses

Romans Chapter 7

1Or don't you know, brothers (for I speak to those who know the law), that the law dominates a person for as long as they live? 2For the woman [that has a husband] is bound by law to the husband while he lives, but if the husband dies, she is discharged from the law of the husband. 3So then if, while the husband lives, she is joined to another man, she would be called an adulteress. But if the husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is no adulteress, though she is joined to another man. 4So, my brothers, you also were made dead to the law through the body of AnointedOne, that you would be joined to another, to him who was raised from the dead, that we might produce fruit of God. 5For when we were in the flesh, the shortcoming passions which were through the law worked in our members to bear fruit to death. 6But now we have been discharged from the law, having died to that in which we were held; so that we serve in newness of the spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.

7What shall we say then? Is the law shortcoming? Not at all! However, I wouldn't have known sin except through the law. For I wouldn't have known coveting unless the law had said, "Don't covet." 8But shortcoming, finding occasion through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of coveting. For without the law, sin is dead. 9I was alive without the law once, but when the commandment came, shortcoming revived and I died. 10The commandment which was for life, this I found to be for death; 11for shortcoming, finding occasion through the commandment, deceived me, and killed me through it. 12So the law indeed is holy, and the commandment holy, righteous, and good.

13Did then what is good become death to me? Not at all! But shortcoming, that it might be shown to be shortcoming, was producing death in me through what is good; that through the commandment shortcoming might become an excessive shortcomer. 14For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am fleshly, sold under shortcoming. 15For I don't understand what I am doing. For I don't practice what I desire to do; but what I hate, that I do. 16But if what I don't desire, that I do, I consent to the law that it is good. 17[So] now [it is no] longer I doing it, but shortcoming which lives in me! 18For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, no good thing lives. For the will is present with me, but I can't [seem to] do good. 19For the good which I desire, I don't do; but the evil which I don't desire, [that's] what I do. 20But if what I don't desire, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but shortcoming which lives in me. 21So I find [there's this] law that, while I desire to do good, evil is right there! 22For I delight in God's law after the inward person, 23but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of shortcoming which is in my members. 24What a wretched person I am! Who will deliver me out of the body of this death? 25I thank God through Jesus AnointedOne, our Lord! So then with the mind, I myself serve God's law, but with the flesh, shortcoming's law.
