Numbers Chapter 14

40They rose up early in the morning and went up to the top of the mountain, saying, "Behold, we are here, and will go up to the place which Yahweh has promised; for we have sinned."

41Moses said, "Why now do you disobey Yahweh's commandment, since it shall not prosper? 42Don't go up, for Yahweh isn't among you; that way you won't be struck down before your enemies. 43For there the Amalekite and the Canaanite are before you, and you will fall by the sword because you turned back from following Yahweh; therefore Yahweh will not be with you."

44But they presumed to go up to the top of the mountain. Nevertheless, the ark of Yahweh's covenant and Moses didn't leave the camp. 45Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites who lived in that mountain, and struck them and beat them down even to Hormah.

Numbers Chapter 15

1Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 2"Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, 'When you have entered the land of your habitations, that I am giving to you, 3and make an offering by fire to Yahweh, a burnt offering, or a sacrifice, to accomplish a vow, or as a freewill offering, or in your set feasts, to make a pleasant aroma to Yahweh, of the herd, or of the flock; 4then he who offers his offering shall offer to Yahweh a meal offering of one tenth [of an ephah] of fine flour mixed with a quarter of a hin of oil. 5Prepare wine for the drink offering, a quarter of a hin, with the burnt offering or for the sacrifice, for each lamb.

6"'For a ram, prepare a meal offering of two tenths [of an ephah] of fine flour mixed with a third of a hin of oil; 7and for the drink offering offer a third of a hin of wine, for a pleasant aroma to Yahweh. 8When you prepare a bull for a burnt offering or for a sacrifice, to accomplish a vow, or for peace offerings to Yahweh, 9then he shall offer with the bull a meal offering of three tenths [of an ephah] of fine flour mixed with half a hin of oil; 10and offer for the drink offering half a hin of wine, for an offering made by fire, of a pleasant aroma to Yahweh. 11It must be done like this for each bull, for each ram, for each of the male lambs, or of the young goats. 12According to the number that you prepare, do so for everyone according to their number.

Jeremiah 36:9-32

24 verses

Jeremiah Chapter 36

9Now in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people who came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem, proclaimed a fast before Yahweh. 10Then read Baruch in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of Yahweh, in the room of Gemariah the son of Shaphan, the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the new gate of Yahweh's house, in the ears of all the people.

11When Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of Yahweh, 12he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's room; and behold, all the princes were sitting there, Elishama the scribe, Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, Elnathan the son of Achbor, Gemariah the son of Shaphan, Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes. 13Then Micaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people. 14Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, Take in your hand the scroll in which you have read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the scroll in his hand, and came to them. 15They said to him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read it in their ears.

16Now when they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said to Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words. 17They asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How did you write all these words at his mouth?

18Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words to me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.

19Then the princes said to Baruch, Go, hide, you and Jeremiah; and let no man know where you are.

20They went in to the king into the court; but they had laid up the scroll in the room of Elishama the scribe; and they told all the words in the ears of the king. 21So the king sent Jehudi to get the scroll; and he took it out of the room of Elishama the scribe. Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes who stood beside the king. 22Now the king was sitting in the winter house in the ninth month: and [there was a fire in] the brazier burning before him. 23When Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the scribe's knife, and threw it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier. 24They were not afraid, nor tore their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants who heard all these words. 25Moreover Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the scroll; but he would not hear them. 26The king commanded Jerahmeel the king's son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but Yahweh hid them.

27Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the scroll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying, 28Take again another scroll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first scroll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah has burned. 29Concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, Yahweh says, "You have burned this scroll, saying, Why have you written in it, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from there man and animal? 30Therefore Yahweh says concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah, "He will have no one to sit on David's throne; and his dead body shall be thrown out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost. 31I will punish him and his offspring and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring on them, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and on the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they didn't listen.

32Then took Jeremiah another scroll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah, who wrote in it from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and there were added in addition to them many similar words.

Section 3

Psalm 102

29 verses

Psalm 102

A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed and pours out his complaint before Yahweh.

1Hear my prayer, Yahweh! Let my cry come to you. 2Don't hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Turn your ear to me. Answer me quickly in the day when I call. 3For my days consume away like smoke. My bones are burned as a torch. 4My heart is blighted like grass, and withered, for I forget to eat my bread. 5By reason of the voice of my groaning, my bones stick to my skin. 6I am like a pelican of the wilderness. I have become as an owl of the waste places. 7I watch, and have become like a sparrow that is alone on the housetop. 8My enemies reproach me all day. Those who are mad at me use my name as a curse. 9For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mixed my drink with tears, 10Because of your indignation and your wrath, for you have taken me up, and thrown me away. 11My days are like a long shadow. I have withered like grass. 12But you, Yahweh, will remain forever; your renown endures to all generations. 13You will arise and have mercy on Zion; for it is time to have pity on her. Yes, the set time has come. 14For your servants take pleasure in her stones, and have pity on her dust. 15So the nations will fear the name of Yahweh; all the kings of the earth your glory. 16For Yahweh has built up Zion. He has appeared in his glory. 17He has responded to the prayer of the destitute, and has not despised their prayer. 18This will be written for the generation to come.
A people which will be created-from-nothing will praise Yah.
19For he has looked down from the height of his sanctuary. From heaven, Yahweh saw the earth; 20to hear the groans of the prisoner; to free those who are condemned to death; 21that men may declare the name of Yahweh in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem; 22when the peoples are gathered together, the kingdoms, to serve Yahweh. 23He weakened my strength along the course. He shortened my days. 24I said, "My God, don't take me away in the midst of my days. Your years are throughout all generations. 25Of old, you laid the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the work of your hands. 26They will perish, but you will endure. Yes, all of them will wear out like a garment. You will change them like a cloak, and they will be changed. 27But you are the same. Your years will have no end. 28The children of your servants will continue. Their offspring will be established before you."

Section 4

1 Corinthians 15:35-58

24 verses

1 Corinthians Chapter 15

35But someone will say, "How are the dead raised?" and, "With what kind of body do they come?" 36You foolish one, what you yourself sow is not made alive unless it dies. 37What you sow, you don't sow the body that will be, but a bare grain, maybe of wheat, or of some other kind. 38But God gives it a body even as it pleased him, and to each seed a body of its own. 39All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds. 40There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial differs from that of the terrestrial. 41There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.

42So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown perishable; it is raised imperishable. 43It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. 44It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body and there is also a spiritual body.

45So also it is written, "The first man, Adam, became a living soul." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46However what is spiritual isn't first, but what is natural, then what is spiritual. 47The first man is of the earth, made of dust. The second man is the Lord from heaven. 48As is the one made of dust, such are those who are also made of dust; and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49As we have borne the image of those made of dust, let's also bear the image of the heavenly. 50Now I say this, brothers, that flesh and blood can't inherit God's Kingdom; neither does corruption inherit incorruption.

51Behold, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised permanent, and we will be changed. 53For this temporary must be clothed in permanency, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54But this temporary will have put on permanency, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: "Death is swallowed up in victory." 55"Death, where is your sting? Hades, where is your victory?"

56The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus AnointedOne. 58So, my dear brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord's work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
