Exodus Chapter 25

¹⁷Make a mercy seat of pure gold. It will be two and a half cubits long, and a cubit and a half wide. ¹⁸Make two throne-angels of hammered gold. Make them at the two ends of the mercy seat. ¹⁹Make one throne-angel at the one end, and one throne-angel at the other end. Make the throne-angels on its two ends of one piece with the mercy seat. ²⁰The wings of the throne-angels will spread out upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings, with their faces toward one another. The faces of the throne-angels are to be toward the mercy seat. ²¹Put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and put the testimony that I'm about to give you in the ark. ²²There I will meet with you, and I will tell you from above the mercy seat, from between the two throne-angels which are on the ark of the testimony, all that I command you for the children of Israel.

²³"Make a table of acacia wood. Make it two cubits long, a cubit wide, and one and a half cubits high. ²⁴Overlay it with pure gold, and make a gold molding around it. ²⁵Make a rim of a hand width around it. Make a golden molding on its rim around it. ²⁶Make four rings of gold for it, and put the rings in the four corners that are on its four feet. ²⁷the rings are to be close to the rim, as places for the poles to carry the table. ²⁸Make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold, that the table may be carried with them. ²⁹Make its dishes, its spoons, its ladles, and its bowls to pour out offerings with. Make them of pure gold. ³⁰Always set bread of the presence on the table before me.

1 Kings Chapter 16

²⁵Omri did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, and dealt wickedly above all who were before him. ²⁶For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sins with which he made Israel to sin, to provoke Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities. ²⁷Now the rest of the acts of Omri which he did, and his might that he showed, aren't they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? ²⁸So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria; and Ahab his son reigned in his place.

²⁹In the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, Ahab the son of Omri began to reign over Israel: and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years. ³⁰Ahab the son of Omri did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh above all that were before him. ³¹As if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, he took [to be his] wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshiped him. ³²He reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. ³³Ahab made the Asherah; and Ahab did yet more to provoke Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him. ³⁴In his days Hiel the Bethelite built Jericho: he laid its foundation with the loss of Abiram his firstborn, and set up its gates with the loss of his youngest son Segub, according to the word of Yahweh, which he spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.

1 Kings Chapter 17

¹Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the foreigners of Gilead, said to Ahab, "As Yahweh, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word."

²The word of Yahweh came to him, saying, ³"Go away from here, turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan. ⁴It shall be, that you shall drink of the brook. I have commanded the ravens to feed you there." ⁵So he went and did according to the word of Yahweh; for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, that is before the Jordan. ⁶The ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook. ⁷After a while the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.

⁸The word of Yahweh came to him, saying, ⁹"Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain you."

¹⁰So he arose and went to Zarephath; and when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her, and said, "Please get me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink."

¹¹As she was going to get it, he called to her, and said, "Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand."

¹²She said, "As Yahweh your God lives, I don't have a cake, but a handful of meal in the jar, and a little oil in the jar. Behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and bake it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die."

¹³Elijah said to her, "Don't be afraid. Go and do as you have said; but make me of it a little cake first, and bring it out to me, and afterward make some for you and for your son. ¹⁴For Yahweh, the God of Israel says, 'The jar of meal shall not empty, nor will the jar of oil fail, until the day that Yahweh sends rain on the earth.'"

¹⁵She went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, ate [many] days. ¹⁶The jar of meal didn't empty, neither did the jar of oil fail, according to the word of Yahweh, which he spoke by Elijah.

Nehemiah Chapter 9

³¹"Nevertheless in your manifold mercies you didn't make a full end of them, nor forsake them; for you are a gracious and merciful God.

³²Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness, don't let all the travail seem little before you that has come on us, on our kings, on our princes, on our priests, on our prophets, on our fathers, and on all your people, since the time of the kings of Assyria to this day. ³³However you are just in all that has come on us; for you have dealt truly, but we have done wickedly. ³⁴Also our kings, our princes, our priests, and our fathers have not kept your law, nor listened to your commandments and your testimonies with which you testified against them. ³⁵For they have not served you in their kingdom, and in your great goodness that you gave them, and in the large and rich land which you gave before them. They didn't turn from their wicked works.

³⁶"Behold, we are servants today, and as for the land that you gave to our fathers to eat its fruit and its good, behold, we are servants in it. ³⁷It yields much increase to the kings whom you have set over us because of our sins. Also they have power over our bodies and over our livestock, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress. ³⁸Yet for all this, we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, our Levites, [and] our priests, seal it."

Nehemiah Chapter 10

¹Now those who sealed were: Nehemiah the governor, the son of Hacaliah, and Zedekiah, ²Seraiah, Azariah, Jeremiah, ³Pashhur, Amariah, Malchijah, ⁴Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch, ⁵Harim, Meremoth, Obadiah, ⁶Daniel, Ginnethon, Baruch, ⁷Meshullam, Abijah, Mijamin, ⁸Maaziah, Bilgai, and Shemaiah. These were the priests. ⁹The Levites: Jeshua the son of Azaniah, Binnui of the sons of Henadad, Kadmiel; ¹⁰and their brothers, Shebaniah, Hodiah, Kelita, Pelaiah, Hanan, ¹¹Mica, Rehob, Hashabiah, ¹²Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah, ¹³Hodiah, Bani, and Beninu.

John Chapter 1

²⁹The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! ³⁰This is he of whom I said, 'After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.' ³¹I didn't know him, but for this reason I came baptizing in water: that he would be revealed to Israel." ³²John testified, saying, "I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him. ³³I didn't recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water said to me, 'On whomever you will see the Spirit descending and remaining on him is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.' ³⁴I have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God."

³⁵Again, the next day, John was standing with two of his disciples, ³⁶and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!" ³⁷The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. ³⁸Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, "What are you looking for?" They said to him, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?"

³⁹He said to them, "Come, and see." They came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about the tenth hour. ⁴⁰One of the two who heard John and followed him was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. ⁴¹He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him, "We have found Messiah!" (which means AnointedOne). ⁴²He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him, and said, "You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas" (also called by interpretation, Peter).

⁴³On the next day, he was determined to go out into Galilee, and he found Philip. Jesus said to him, "Follow me." ⁴⁴Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter. ⁴⁵Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, "We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

⁴⁶Nathanael said to him, "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."

⁴⁷Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said about him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!"

⁴⁸Nathanael said to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you."

⁴⁹Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are King of Israel!"

⁵⁰Jesus answered him, "Because I told you, 'I saw you underneath the fig tree,' do you believe? You will see greater things than these!" ⁵¹He said to him, "Absolutely. Absolutely, I tell you all, hereafter you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."
