Numbers Chapter 1

³⁴Of the children of Manasseh, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and older, all who were able to go out to war: ³⁵Thirty-two thousand two hundred were counted from the tribe of Manasseh.

³⁶Of the children of Benjamin, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and older, all who were able to go out to war: ³⁷Thirty-five thousand four hundred were counted from the tribe of Benjamin.

³⁸Of the children of Dan, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and older, all who were able to go out to war: ³⁹Sixty-two thousand seven hundred were counted from the tribe of Dan.

⁴⁰Of the children of Asher, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and older, all who were able to go out to war: ⁴¹Forty-one thousand five hundred were counted from the tribe of Asher.

⁴²Of the children of Naphtali, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and older, all who were able to go out to war: ⁴³Fifty-three thousand four hundred were counted from the tribe of Naphtali.

⁴⁴These are those who were counted, whom Moses and Aaron counted, and the twelve men who were princes of Israel, each one for his fathers' house. ⁴⁵So all those who were counted of the children of Israel by their fathers' houses, from twenty years old and older, all who were able to go out to war in Israel- ⁴⁶all six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty were listed.

Jeremiah Chapter 4

²⁷For Yahweh says, "The whole land shall be a desolation; yet I will not make a full end. ²⁸For this the earth will mourn, and the heavens above be black; because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and I have not repented, nor will I turn back from it."

²⁹Every city flees for the noise of the horsemen and archers; they go into the thickets, and climb up on the rocks: every city is forsaken, and not a man dwells there. ³⁰You, when you are made desolate, what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, though you deck you with ornaments of gold, though you enlarge your eyes with paint, you make yourself beautiful emptily; [your] lovers despise you, they seek your life. ³¹For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, the anguish as of her who produces her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, who gasps for breath, who spreads her hands, [saying], "Woe is me now! For my soul faints before the murderers."

Jeremiah Chapter 5

¹"Run back and forth through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the wide-places of it, if you can find a man, if there are any who does justly, who seeks truth; and I will pardon her. ²Though they say, 'As Yahweh lives;' surely they swear falsely."

³O Yahweh, don't your eyes look on truth? You have stricken them, but they were not grieved. You have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction. They have made their faces harder than a rock. They have refused to return.

⁴Then I said, "Surely these are poor. They are foolish; for they don't know the way of Yahweh, nor the law of their God. ⁵I will go to the great men, and will speak to them; for they know the way of Yahweh, and the law of their God." But these with one accord have broken the yoke, and burst the bonds. ⁶Therefore a lion out of the forest shall kill them, a wolf of the evenings shall destroy them, a leopard shall watch against their cities; everyone who goes out there shall be torn in pieces; because their transgressions are many, [and] their backsliding is increased.

⁷"How can I pardon you? Your children have forsaken me, and sworn by what are no gods. When I had fed them to the full, they committed adultery, and assembled themselves in troops at the prostitutes' houses. ⁸They were as fed horses roaming at large: everyone neighed after his neighbor's wife. ⁹Shouldn't I punish them for these things?" says Yahweh; "and shouldn't my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

¹⁰"Go up on her walls, and destroy; but don't make a full end. Take away her branches; for they are not Yahweh's. ¹¹For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me," says Yahweh.

¹²They have denied Yahweh, and said, "It is not he; nor will evil come on us; nor will we see sword or famine. ¹³The prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them. Thus shall it be done to them."

¹⁴Therefore Yahweh the God of Armies says, "Because you speak this word, behold, I will make my words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them. ¹⁵Behold, I will bring a nation on you from far, house of Israel," says Yahweh. "It is a mighty nation. It is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you don't know, neither understand what they say. ¹⁶Their quiver is an open tomb, they are all mighty men. ¹⁷They shall eat up your harvest, and your bread, [which] your sons and your daughters should eat. They shall eat up your flocks and your herds. They shall eat up your vines and your fig trees. They shall beat down your fortified cities, in which you trust, with the sword.

¹⁸"But even in those days," says Yahweh, "I will not make a full end with you.

Psalm 52

For the Chief Musician. A contemplation by David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, "David has come to Abimelech's house."

¹Why do you boast of mischief, mighty man? God's loving kindness endures continually. ²Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. ³You love evil more than good, lying rather than speaking the truth.

⁴You love all devouring words, you deceitful tongue. ⁵God will likewise destroy you forever. He will take you up, and pluck you out of your tent, and root you out of the land of the living.

⁶The righteous also will see it, and fear, and laugh at him, saying, ⁷"Behold, this is the man who didn't make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness." ⁸But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in God's house. I trust in God's loving kindness forever and ever. ⁹I will give you thanks forever, because you have done it. I will hope in your name, for it is good, in the presence of your saints.

Psalm 53

For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "Mahalath." A contemplation by David.

¹The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity. There is no one who does good. ²God looks down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there are any who understood, who seek after God. ³Every one of them has gone back. They have become filthy together. There is no one who does good, no, not one. ⁴Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and don't call on God? ⁵There they were in great fear, where no fear was, for God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you. You have put them to shame, because God has rejected them. ⁶Oh that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When God brings back his people from captivity, then Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

Psalm 54

For the Chief Musician. On stringed instruments. A contemplation by David, when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, "Isn't David hiding himself among us?"

¹Save me, God, by your name. Vindicate me in your might. ²Hear my prayer, God. Listen to the words of my mouth. ³For strangers have risen up against me. Violent men have sought after my soul. They haven't set God before them.

⁴Behold, God is my helper. LordOfMine is the one who sustains my soul. ⁵He will repay the evil to my enemies. Destroy them in your truth. ⁶With a free will offering, I will sacrifice to you. I will give thanks to your name, Yahweh, for it is good. ⁷For he has delivered me out of all trouble. My eye has seen triumph over my enemies.

Romans Chapter 4

⁶Even as David also pronounces blessing on the person to whom God counts righteousness apart from actions:
⁷"Happier are they whose iniquities are forgiven,
whose shortcomings are covered.
⁸Happier is the man whom ForeverOne will in no way charge with shortcoming."

⁹Is this blessing then [bestowed only] on the circumcised, or on the uncircumcised as well? For we say that faith was counted to Abraham as righteousness. ¹⁰Then how was it counted? When he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. ¹¹He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they might be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might also be counted to them. ¹²He is the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision.

¹³For the promise to Abraham and to his offspring that he would be heir of the world wasn't through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. ¹⁴For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of no effect. ¹⁵For the law produces wrath; for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.

¹⁶For this reason it is of faith, that it may be according to grace, to the end that the promise may be sure to all the offspring, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all. ¹⁷As it is written, "I have made you a father of many nations." This is in the presence of him whom he believed: God, who gives life to the dead, and calls the things that are not, as though they were. ¹⁸Against hope, Abraham in hope believed, to the end that he might become a father of many nations, according to what had been spoken, "So will your offspring be." ¹⁹Without being weakened in faith, he didn't consider his own body, already having been worn out, (aged about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb. ²⁰Yet, looking to the promise of God, he didn't waver through unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to God, ²¹and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was also able to perform. ²²So it also was "counted as righteousness for him." ²³Now it was not written that it was counted to him for his sake alone, ²⁴but for our sake also, to whom it will be counted, who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, ²⁵who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification.
